For those planning on attending the Post-Do, here is the Visa on Arrival info:

You may obtain your visa upon arrival at the two airports in Cambodia: Siem Reap and Phnom Penh and other border checkpoints

What do I need to get my visa in Cambodia (upon arrival)?

A2. REQUIREMENTS

Application for a tourist visa requires:

* A completed visa application form http://embassyofcambodia.org/VISA_FORM.pdf
* A Passport with at least 6 months validity
* One recent photograph (2 inches x 2 inches)
* Appropriate visa fee (US$35)

I will be at the GH... as I believe will chchkiwi - will be visiting Siem Reap prior to Kuala Lumpur.

Has anyone here stayed at Le Meridien? (this is for a later one night stay) Is it better positioned for an easy trip into and out of KL via public transport/train?

Last time I was in K.L., I stayed at the Aloft, which is a great bargain with SPG points (cat 2). It is near the K.L. Sentral, which is the main railway station of K.L. The Le Meridien is also very close to Sentral, on the other side of the Sentral station compared to Aloft. So yes it would be well positioned for taking public transport in and out of K.L. I think I was able to get a non-stop bus ride directly from Sentral to the airport when I left K.L last time.

I'll be at the DT also. It is very close to the Ampang Park LRT station, if anyone hasn't been. The GH is a bit of a walk from the KLCC station, which is the next one over. That is probably why it's easier to just walk than to take the train one station down to KLCC and then still have to walk a bit up to the hotel.

I've only been to KL a few times, but I took the LRT and airport bus each time, so if anyone is new in town and needs directions on either of those to GH or DT please feel free to PM me.

Thanks. I'll look at the location of both of them on the map and see. Wasn't aware of the Aloft.

The GH is more easily accessible via the monorail. The closest station is Raja Chulan. The monorail is quite useful as it goes through one the busiest parts of town, however, it can be extremely crowded during peak hours. The terminal is near KL Sentral, a few mins walk via a shopping mall.

From KL Sentral, the quickest way to the airport (KUL) is via the train. This takes just less than half an hour. However, the direct bus service is a lot more economical, taking roughly double the time. For those who prefer the bus, make sure it's going to the terminal you want to go to - KLIA (mostly full service airlines) or KLIA2 (mostly LCCs).

Personally, I wouldn't suggest staying too far away from the GH (although you should do whatever you think is best for you). Given that the schedule has not yet been posted, it's possible that some events will be planned on short notice, and if your hotel is far from the GH you may find it hard to get the information in time to get to the meeting place. Just my thought, based on past DOs with schedules that weren't set in stone.

I would really recommend staying at one of the hotels where one of the DO organizers is staying, for convenience. So either Grand Hyatt or Shangri-La.
Thanks for the heads up. I'm staying near Bukit Bintang station (near Fahrenheit 88) and it is only 1 km walk from the Grand Hyatt - so I should be GTG.

Cheers!

If you want Lounge Access at the Hyatt

You want to stay at the Hyatt but do not have status.
I am a Diamond, but am not staying at the GH.

Book your room through me and we both get lounge access.
PM me if interested.

I might even use one of my upgrades

Would be good to have a rough schedule too. Doesn't need to be too detailed, but it would certainly help with my flight/bus/train and hotel choices if I know where/when the major events take place (e.g. main do dinner).

I wish. I won't be able to attend the KUL portion, so I am focusing on the Sihanoukville trip. It is almost as if Sihanoukville has taken over as the more substantial part of the Do, with KUL playing the role that the Post-Do usually does. But that's just my personal two cents. I will follow up with the other organizers to see if they have made any progress on KUL.
