Zurich Stammtisch / regular table

Users from german forum VFT are organising a monthly meeting in Zurich. Any visitors from FT are very welcome. As chumbawamba isn't really active anymore I am taking over and will post the dates here and try to support the exchange with VFT.

The usual schedule is:
7pm meet underneath the Blue Angel in the main hall of Zurichs Mainstation or at the Circle Plaza at ZRH.
7pm-7:30pm have a couple of beers at Brasserie Federal, situated also in the main hall.
7:30pm relocate on foot or by public transport to a restaurant nearby

Once or twice a year there might be a special Stammtisch but I try to post it as early as possible.

November 24, Mainstation then Ristorante Pizzeria 99
December 15, Airport: 1800 meeting for some mulled wine at the christmas market in "The Circle", then the yearly Fondue at Barraca Zermatt Kloten

Please remember to find the latest information always in VFT - ZRH Stammtisch!

YuropFlyer Jan 13, 2015 7:39 am

I'll attend the FT regular table on 6th of February :)

Zurich Stammtisch / regular table

Next official Stammtisch on March 20th. Already some people are attending.

flylocal Feb 17, 2015 8:20 am

What is happening at this Stammtisch?
Is it always the same restaurant?

Basically we meet at 19:00 at Zurich Mainstation and head for some beer, so those who are late can catch up. Afterwards we head for a restaurant, which is changing. There are some favourites we always return to, but we also try something new once in a while.
Well and then there is a lot of talking about miles, flights, hotels, programs... sometimes we come up with ideas for smaller or larger DOs, some friendships start... it's a fun time, no matter if it's only 3 attendants or if it's 30!

flylocal Feb 19, 2015 12:55 pm

Sounds fun - will gladly be joining if I'm in ZRH!

flospi Mar 23, 2015 6:13 am

Something different for the Stammtisch on April 17th... We will meet at ZRH's Upperdeck bar for a beer or two (it's Happy Hour, 2-for-1) and eat some steaks at Rolli's Steakhouse in Kloten... check the first post for updates!

PitaPan Mar 24, 2015 9:14 am

Just missed it, I'll be in ZRH April 2nd/3rd. Would have loved to join.

flospi Apr 23, 2015 11:35 am

Back to the usual routine on 8th May... First a beer and then good food with fun company.

YuropFlyer Jun 3, 2015 5:41 am

Yeah, well I can... But a lot of times I fill a bit bad about bumping the thread

YuropFlyer Jun 3, 2015 10:24 am

Humbug ;)

Guess no need to post if someone was added to the attendance list, but for an additional entry, it would be really welcomed :)

flospi Jun 21, 2015 1:27 am

Updated... please notice the anouncement of the special Fondue meeting! So far it filled up pretty quickly every year!

The location for the next Stammtisch is a very nice restaurant! Not the cheapest but with a great kitchen: http://niederdorf.ristorante-toscano.ch/

flospi Sep 28, 2015 10:47 am

Date and location for the Fondue meeting is out!

Hi, I just posted in the VFT, but my German isn't great yet so I wanted to say here that I'll be in Zurich on the 30th, and I'd love to join as it'll let me practice my German, which I'm currently trying to learn in school.

Wonderful! I guess everybody understood what you said... but on the 30th you probably need to push us to speak german with you! Most of us will easily switch to English! Looking forward to meeting you!

flospi Oct 31, 2015 3:21 am

After a great steak yesterday, there will be Fondue in December and most likely a Spaghetti-eat-as-much-as-you-can in January! Hoping to meet more people from FT!!!

TravelKane Oct 31, 2015 7:45 pm

Been trying to get to ZRH, now another reason:)

Great! Would be cool to see some more people from FT at the Stammtisch. It seems the thread is slowly starting to catch on!

It would be worth it, I had a lot of fun at the Stammtisch last weekend, and it gave me some practice in German. Hope to return soon!

Concerto Nov 4, 2015 11:56 am

Yeah, I'm really sorry I haven't got to these. I lost track of where this thread was, and only just picked it up again. I was there a few years back, after my pal and I had climbed a couple of mountains, and I recall sitting opposite Weero during dinner and having Verve on my right. Airoli was also there! Problem with me, being down Montreux/Sion, is that I often have rehearsals on Friday evenings.

flospi Dec 2, 2015 2:26 am

More dates for 2016 are fixed! Hope that some of you manage to make it!

Concerto Dec 6, 2015 7:54 am

Er... where can I see the dates? Sorry if I'm being dumb and missing something obvious.

EDIT: Just saw it, at the top of the thread, obviously! Can't make the 8th January but I will look at the other dates and do my best to make one of them. Part of the problem is being based in the Lake Geneva region and often Friday's are not free for me, due to music rehearsals.

EDIT 2: Just checked the calendar and the only ones I can potentially make are March 18th and June 17th. The other dates I have performances (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on April 22nd) or conservatoire exams to oversee and accompany (May 27th).

mahasamatman Dec 6, 2015 4:12 pm

We're going to be in Zurich on a one-night layover on the way to Israel for my niece's wedding, and it just happens to be one of the new dates! Please confirm two of us on 17 June (as long as there are good seafood and/or vegetarian options).

I put you down as a "maybe" and let danix in VFT know as well! Would be great to see a new face! I was just thinking that I suggest a date in the second half of the year, where we could make a visit to GVA...

Same here! I put you down as confirmed and let danix know. There are a couple of nice restaurants around the lake and we might just do the "Spaghetti-Plausch" we do once in a while... Eat as much as you can Spaghetti with 6 (or so) different sauces!

Concerto Dec 7, 2015 3:36 am

It is, amazingly, possible to get home to Montreux the same night with the SBB CFF, on trains leaving at 22h03 and even 23h03! I think you can put me down as a 'definite' for March 18th and, although something might come up with one of the classes at the conservatoire, I will do my best to keep the date free. Shouldn't be a problem!

eponymous_coward Dec 15, 2015 1:27 pm

If there was to be one on Friday 14 July... I could make it (leaving ZRH on 15 July for the USA).

saltycargohold Dec 26, 2015 5:26 am

I think I'll be able to attend this coming January.:D

Well, as soon as danix (the organiser) fixes the dates for the second half of the year, I will post it here! Hope it will work out for you! (And us :-))

I think that we'll find a nice restaurant with fish/seafood options. I really like that too! ;)
(Vegetarian options are possible in many restaurants, but I don't like the vegetarian only ones.)

danam Dec 28, 2015 3:27 am

I'm interested to come along on Jan 8th. My German is weak (non existent) but I hope that will be okay :)

Been trying to do that for a few years :D

Hokiethang Jan 5, 2016 12:39 pm

I'm traveling for the January one, but I plan to be in town for the March one, and the ones there after.

flospi Jan 8, 2016 5:37 am

Tonight, meeting at 1900 underneath the Blue Angel in the great hall at Zurich Mainstation, then a quick beer in the Brasserie Fédéral (normally we are somewhere in the bar area in the back) and at around 2000 we move towards Restaurant Commihalle for all-you-can-eat-spaghetti.

danam Jan 10, 2016 4:38 pm

Can I sign up for the March one? It was an interesting evening out on Friday, would be good to attend again :)

Good to hear that you enjoyed it! Hopefully I'll be there in March as well!

dinoscool3 Jan 13, 2016 8:22 pm

If you could sign me up for April 22nd, that would be great. After the enjoyable one I went to in October, I've been hoping to get some free time to attend another one.

I'm afraid I'll be traveling in March and I'll be back in the States for the May one, but April works out nicely!

flospi Jan 21, 2016 10:20 am

@dinoscool3: Looking forward to seeing you back at our Stammtisch!

@all: I updated the dates for this year! So feel free to book flights for some mileageruns to ZRH
