I'm sitting on a bunch of Aeroplan points which I'm planning to use for a Mini RTW or two in Business class, such as my current route obsession:
YYZ -> LHR (stop) -> SIN - BNE (stop) -> BKK - NRT(HND) (stop) -> YYZ |
I've done a few:
SFO-HNL-DPS-CGK-PEK-(trans mongolian railroad)-DME-CAI-JNB-HRE-VFA-(safari)-KHW-FBCO-MUB-JNB-LHR-ZRH-(TGV)-Paris-(Eurostar)-LHR-LAX SFO-LHR-DXB-SEZ-NBO (on a BA 747 no less!)-(ground transfer)-WLN-MRE-WLN-(ground transfer)-NBO-DXB-BKK-HKG-SFO SFO-TPE-BKK-NBO-BJM-KGL-NBO-LHR-SFO SFO-FRA-PRG-ARN-FRA-HKG-FRA-SFO (not technically RTW, but sure seemed long enough) |
I'm doing one this April and couldn't be more excited.

17 years ago, with a pack on my back, I bought one--LAX-CPH-LHR-PRG-BKK-PNH-BKK-TPE-LAX. Early in the trip i met a boy, and by the second BKK I decided to come back to London to see him and I'm still here now. So I guess I haven't finished it yet.
Being nosy but are you still with the boy you met in BKK? I confess, I am a bit of a romantic. |
A few years back I took:
ORD>SFO>SYD>SIN>FRA>JFK>ORD. Great trip over a week, especially the legs on SQ. :p |
I did a 1st class air, 5 star hotel rtw trip leaving NYC with the first stop in Tokyo and the final one in Rio de Janeiro. You can see my route, pictures and experience on [email protected]

My wife and I were thinking about one on Star Alliance for next year, to celebrate the three months between our anniversary (May) to my birthday (July). We had it all planned out but then with US Airways (our primary airline) leaving Star and merging with AA and oneWorld, we are re-evaluating and seeing what we can get with oneWorld. Our itinerary was:
GSP-DXB-MUC* -- *LHR-SIN-SYD-HKG-NRT-DEN-IAD-GSP * we were planning to purchase a BMW in Munich and drive around Europe for about three week, then take the Chunnel to London and continue our trip from there. Strange question, perhaps, but if anyone has done RTW with both oneWorld and Star Alliance, how do the two compare? Especially with Business class? |
Done two true RTW
SEA-FRA-CDG (LH F) CDG-LHR-HYD (BA C) HYD-SIN (Silk Air Y) SIN-PEK (CA Y) PEK-SEA (Hainan Y) SEA-FRA-NRT (LH F) NRT-PEK (JAL C) PEK-NRT-SEA (DL Y) |
I did my first and probably only RTW back in 2012, in combination of CX and SQ First. Link to my trip report is in my signature.

Round the World Club
Two years ago, I had two months off work and back-packed my way around the world:
CLT-GIG-LHR-CDG-FCO-DXB-BKK-SIN-DPS-HKG-SYD-NRT-SFO-CLT 28 days, 12 countries and a lot of money!! Coach all the way for me! Still had lots of fun- one of the best times of my life. I was in each city for two days. http://i885.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps7a6fd107.jpg |
My only real around the world so far has been BOS->MSP->NRT->HKG->DEL->AMS->BOS in October, 2012. Maybe I'll route myself around again sometime...
|
I've done 2 full circumnavigations:
In 2011: YVR-LAX-ICN-SIN-(xKUL-HKT-BKK-REP-BKK-CNX)-xCEI-BKK-CDG-MUC-(train to Vienna and Prague)-ZRH-YUL-YYZ-YVR w/ stops <24hr in LAX, ICN, BKK, CDG, ZRH, YUL full stops in SIN/KUL, HKT, REP, CNX/CEI, MUC over 6 weeks. In 2013: YVR-YYZ-JFK-*FRA*-JNB-VFA-(xJNB-CPT-xPLZ-DUR)-xJNB-PER-(BME)-PER-SIN-SFO-YVR w/ stops <24hr in JFK, FRA (both unintended, due to direct JFK-JNB going mechanical), SIN and full stops in VFA, JNB, CPT, PLZ, PER, BME over 7 weeks Bracketed portions were purchased separately from the original award. |
I did LAX-NRT-ICN-DME-LHR-CDG-TXL-MAD-FCO-LAX in a span of two weeks in 2012. :D

I confess, I am a bit of a romantic. But sorry, no. I'm not, and that's probably for the best. However, you can now attach your romantic sentiments to the happy couple celebrating an anniversary! |
In April, we did our first. PHL-ORD-NRT-FCO(train)FLR-BCN-PHL in 17 days. Nine days in Japan. It got a little tiring toward the end when we spent 3 days in Rome, 1 in Florence, 1 Siena and 1 Barcelona. We won't do such a big trip again until at least 2016.
