Madison Do, June 7-8, 2014

I'll be in Madison, WI the weekend of June 7-8 and I am planning to see the following:
  • Capitol
  • Breweries (Ale Asylum and Capital Brewery have tours)
  • House on the Rock

Anyone interested in the above? I'm thinking of taking a tour of the capitol and nearby breweries on Sat, June 7 and going to the House on the Rock on Sun, June 8. I'm open to other suggestions as well.

As for hotel, the Candlewood Suites Madison - Fitchburg is on the IHG Points Break list.

Nice, it has been over 3 decades since I was last at House on the Rock.

If I wasn't heading to Cincinnati June 7-8 for my niece's graduation, I'd happily drive up to Madison from Chicago for this.

Another idea if enough people are interested is to rent a boat on Lake Mendota: http://www.skipperbuds.com/Page.aspx...t-Rentals.aspx

Karben4, which is in the old Ale Asylum location, has good beers and a very enthusiastic brewer if he is around. I don't know that they do formal tours. There are some good local spirits too - look for Death's Door gin.
