FT Convention

I have only been a member for 3 years has there even been any discussion about a FT yearly convention. This may be difficult with 450,000 members located accross the world. Is this why there are the at times the FT meetups. It would be a huge convention maybe bringing in the airlines, hotel, and rental car companies. After all we are the customers.
Another option would be breaking up conventions to location, say in the US have one on the west coast, midwest, east coast. Just a thought.

FT Convention

There are various "dos" and "megados". Check the Community Forum. Also, you can arrange small meet-ups.

Who would pay the underwriting/organizational expenses of these conventions? I just don't see Internet Brands underwriting the amount of staff you would need with something of the scale that you suggest. It's a little beyond the time commitment that volunteers presently commit when organizing local events.

Why not make it a for profit event?
Don't some competing sites make a buck or two off these events?

I had a similar thought 8.5 years ago:

Choose a date, time and location sometime in the distant future and let’s see if there is a gathering of FlyerTalk members large enough to require renting out an entire hotel, chartering an aircraft (while still earning miles, of course!) and/or completely filling up a restaurant.
Perhaps it could be part of this or this?
