Dinner menu let drooling start :)
Perhaps they will have some October Fest dinner specials. If not I guess I will run with the Bavarian Rouladen.

I'm sorry to say but I won't be making this Do, yes I know I'm the organizer.
I brought my car in first thing Monday morning for service on many warranty items & they said no problem I would have it back by this morning, they were wrong.
Getting to Lisle from ORD is a PITA on public transportation.

While I was unable to make it due to a dinner where I live, toomanybooks would be happy to know that many beers were served (Philly steak type dinner). He would be unhappy to know that per the norm I went with wine instead of beer. But before he commits hari-kari, I'd like to say that he'll be happy when I show up w/ the industry magazines for his son this weekend as my saving grace/penance for the wine.
Cheers.
Cheers.

Big thanks are in order to two Flyertalkers:
1) shoeflyer for giving myself & u2fan a ride
2) toomanybooks for raising heck with the host to get 13 of us tables at a restaurant that had no right being that busy on a Wed night
A number of us decided that we'd like to go back but at a much earlier time in the evening to beat the rush.
All the above said, I had a great time, with some great folks, good to meet a couple of new faces!!

Wine is OK. Sometimes. But only if there is no good beer available and the wine is excellent, like in Greece/France/Italy.
Someone is going to get a comment about that; 8 pm, an hour past the time the host said we'd get probably seated, is out of line, especially when I notified him in person at 6 pm we had 12 or so coming and that we'd be at the bar. Allegedly they had a server not show up, not allowing us to occupy empty tables at the left rear.
But then they seated others there, so that was a lie, at least in part.
Next time we ought to tell them we'll accept tables of 4, I suppose. We should have left.
I sympathize a little with management. I was astounded how slow some people were to get up and leave. 45 minutes after getting your check and paying you are still gabbing when the place is mobbed? Geeez. Idiots.
How do you find out the owner of a restaurant so you can let him/her know? D&B? I'd certainly want to know about the situation if I were the proprietor.

I too was amazed at how packed it was but the wait was ridiculous. One guy nursing his coffee for 45 minutes in a table of 8.
However the food, the beer and the company was good.
I will sacrifice myself and personally register our displeasure at the bar.

All of the above is true - but it was still a good time: thanks to everyone for contributing.
Sweet Willie, shoeflyer and toomanybooks deserve a special thanks.
Sweet Willie, thanks for organizing.
Shoeflyer, thank you for the rides there and back - they were very appreciated.
Toomanybooks, thanks for helping to get a table - we might still be there otherwise.

Ok let's plan a drinking afternoon/evening for November instead.... I'm on vacation from 11/7 until 11/21. Let me know!
