For all those FTers residing in Poland or those that want to meetup in Poland, I started this thread for that purpose.


Next meetup:

I hope that we can get a get together sometime at the end of Oct 2012. Will there be any FTers interested? I was thinking Krakow or Warsaw.

I'll be in Warsaw the nights of November 8-9. It's my first time there, so I would certainly welcome the added benefit of local knowledge.

I'll be in Poznan/Wroclaw Nov 3/4 :)

Keep us posted if any plans materialize. Some of us need a fair amount of advance notice in order to book a transatlantic flight at a reasonable price! ;)

I'm more or less always available around KRK so long as there's notice. Anything else could be tricky due to work/home scheduling, but KRK is all good.

Unless a magically-cheap KRK-WAW same-day MR appears. Then I could potentially get away with something there.

If anyone has any plans to visit Krakow let me know. We can get a small get together planned.

I'm not going to be in Krakow, but I will be visiting Warsaw, arriving midday on 9 November and departing early on 12 November, should any locals be available (I note that meqabq will also be in Warsaw the evening of the 9th, though I'm likely to be a bit jet-lagged that day).

I'll be staying at the InterContinental that night if you're up for a drink -- I'll be jet-lagged, too, having come from DXB-HKG-SIN-SFO-LAS over the previous ten days.

so 2 FTers in WAW 9-12? Maybe I'll swing by :)

good stuff - let's definitely have some drinks or a lunch/dinner.

One important note - 11th of November is our Independence Day and we (unfortunately) expect pretty significant unrest on the streets that day. I'd also assume that tighten security measures will be visible on 10th evening.

I'd propose a dinner on 9th or a lunch on 10th - we'd go to a good local place, far away from tourist traps :)

Lunch on the 10th would be my preference: I'm usually more coherent after a night sleeping in a hotel bed, rather than an airplane seat. Though I will hopefully be up for (early) evening drinks on the 9th.

And thanks for the heads up re: possible unrest on the 11th, MichalFKowalik, I'll try to see everything I want in the city center on the 10th and things not-right-in-the-center on the 11th.

I believe mecabq is only available to meet up on the 9th so I will arrive in the early afternoon Friday and stay till Sunday. I'll be up for Friday evening dinner and/or drinks in addition to Sat and Sun

Count me in for drinks on the 9th, then; I'll play dinner by ear (but think it's highly unlikely I'll last).

I will be cabbing it from the IC hotel around 5:45pm so if anyone wants to join in, let me know. I'm also up for meeting before somewhere near the IC for a coffee or something.

P.S. A plug for the InterContinental. The location isn't as good as the other hotel I tried, Le Meridien Bristol, but the RA benefits were great, breakfast was fantastic, and, at less than half the rate of Le Meridien, it was a good choice. Next time I'll have to look at the Hilton and adjoining casino.

BTW - if you think that IC location was weak, then Hilton will be in the middle of nowhere for you :)

MichalFKowalik: Whoa; glad I missed that! I'm sorry I missed Saturday lunch, but am happy I was able to see the historic city center in the sunshine as I clearly couldn't have returned to it on Sunday.

Thanks for arranging the get-togethers; I, too, had a great time and enjoyed meeting everyone. Glad you made the trip up from Krakow, jason8612.

Odds are yes, I don't think I have anything I need to be 100% functional for at work the next day.

EDIT: Okay, yeah, 24th is a Monday. Did not see that. Still will probably be fine, though. Calendar's clear. Count me in unless something serious happens and I'll at least know that in advance.

team, I just got a note that need to be in Kiev on 24th - can't make Krakow I'm afraid. I will be in KRK on 2nd or 3rd of July. mfk

Not sure what's going on the 22-28 in Krakow.
With MFK out of town on the 24th, I'm free then to meet up anytime else that week (incl that weekend 28/29). Let me know if any better dates work for you holmedown and DJ Bitterbarn. Of course we can meet up on the 2/3 of July when MFK is back in town.

If we're open to rescheduling, it would be useful to me if we could move the date to later that same week, maybe Friday the 28th? I was supposed to be out of town this coming Monday/Tuesday but that got postponed a few times, add some new meetings and suddenly the 24th is a really good day for us to be away. But the 28th-30th range is good for me as of right now.

How does the 28th look for everyone? Its a Friday so we can meet up in the afternoon for some food then some drinks. If the weather is nice, we can enjoy the old town outside (currently it's some 80F and sunny here :cool: )

Afternoon of the 28th is looking good for me. There is a very real chance I will be jumping on a train to Poznan that night, but if we're in/near the Rynek then I can just bring my rollaboard and run from there. So... I call that a win. Any thoughts to where? CK Browar?

Let's say that I'm 80% positive of this and should be 100% certain by this Saturday (it depends on an immune system (not mine) so planning is hard - plans have already changed three times since I got up this morning).

Sorry to miss you Michal, if you're around this week, though, you can always give me a shout and we could go for a pint in Kazimierz. This coming week my schedule is wide open, including the 24th as originally thought.

However, yes. 28th is officially a go for me, so long as I make my train at 9:15.
