Always wanted to go back to CPT
I was in the Johannesburg area for a couple of months in 2000. At the end of my stay I rented a car and drove across the country. I made quite a few stops, so by the time I got to the end of the drive, I was pretty much out of time and I had to skip the Garden Route and Cape Town, and just drove right to CPT. So I've always wanted to go back.
This worked out perfectly for me. In 2011, I was just short of renewing my Gold on DL. But with rollover and the MQM accrued on this long flight, I will only not be DL Gold for a few days, and it looks probable that I will get to Platinum this year. I won't do an actual mileage run; I sit on enough planes as it is and why would I want to burn my leisure time that way.
