Now to finish working on some Hotels.

Is anywhere too far away or are all the majors within reasonable distance? I've played with google maps but a little personal knowledge is much more useful.
Sheraton Towers, Grand Hyatt, Hilton Singapore... are those the majors you are considering? That area will probably have the highest concentration of Doers but pretty much any hotel on this map would be S$10 taxi to any DO event except East Coast Seafood.

Itsalongwaydown - There really is no SIN DO "headquarters hotel". I note you are HH D. Some folks will also be staying at the Conrad Hotel.

I just made a non refundable booking at the Conrad Singapore for the Saturday night. Staying at the Singapore Hilton on the Friday night and flying up and back on Jetstar, arrive Friday afternoon, depart Sunday evening, so short 2 night stay in Singapore.

Please remove me from the confirmed list Relocating and too much work prevent me from taking the time off to enjoy the Do.
If time permits (and LH or TG have award flights) I might hop over on short notice, though.

SQ had a schedule change on our flight from MLE and now we will not be arriving in SIN until the evening of Jan 18, so we will join you for activities on Jan 19-20.

A few of us are arriving in the wee hours on the 19th and
were wondering how late the Lau Pa Sat nosh would be
going on - i.e. if it was worthwhile cabbing it down there
at 2 to 2:30 am?

i will be attending! Looking forward to seeing Singapore for the first time.

Airfare on Delta out of Chicago dropped below 1200 so I quickly booked my flight.
Arriving on the Jan 18 at 1:55 am

Planning on staying at the Conrad unless the Hilton is a better location.

Here is the schedule for the Post DO portion of the SIN DO. I'm going to be checking with all those confirmed to decide on an event for Wednesday and to get attendance and flight details to figure out a Monday dinner time.

Monday, January 21
Fly to SGN. I suggest Jetstar Asia, flight 557 Dep: 2:00PM Arr: 3:05PM
Dinner at 8:00 PM, this is going to be Vietnamese food, but I'm still deciding on a restaurant.

Tuesday, January 22
Between 7:30 and 9:00am, exact time TBD we will head out for a Mekong Delta tour/cruise.
There are a number of options for tour length, but expect this to be 8 to 10 hours.
Pricing will very depending on the group size and tour company, but I'm expecting this to be about $80
Dinner will be at least 1.5 hours after we get back to the hotels, so plan on 8:00 or 8:30.

Wednesday, January 23
Two options are either the Cu Chi tunnels or an "Unseen Saigon" tour where they will take you through Ho Chi Minh on motorbikes.
Either of these tours are about 5 hours excursions. I've also been looking at options for site seeing in the city such as the Reunification Palace, Saigon Central Market, and other places.
There will be a late lunch or dinner to follow depending on when everyone's flights leave.

Besides that, I'll be posting an updated attendees list and will be posting some ideas for events for those getting in to Singapore by Friday morning.

Fly to SGN. Jetstar is the cheapest option on the flight in the early afternoon.

I have added my name to the worksheet. Very much looking forward to participate in this post DO.

Am I reading this right? The SIN DO is going to be in Vietnam? If so, we will not be attending as we have DOne Vietnam.

There would be food for the hungry ones but not much of a variety unfortunately. Newton Circus would be a safer option for a food centre preference.

For the adventurous ones, do drop by Geylang (used to be known as a red light district) for real local fare.

You may not find much to see in the Reunification Palace unless you are very interested in Vietnamese history. The War Remnants Museum is far more interesting. Unfortunately it isn't well maintained over the years and the photo exhibits are turning yellow.
