Some guidelines for Communitybuzz!

CommunityBuzz! is the place to announce Dos/get togethers. For a do to be posted on Flyertalk, it needs to be open to all members – a FT do. A Do is not a FT Do where the discussion relating to the do is held solely on another forum or website and a place holder, or something similar, is posted on FT. However, we welcome joint dos, from different forums, where the Do Host maintains a participatory thread on FT for FT members wishing to attend.

FT dos may link to other websites for purposes of registration or payment (for example, websites created solely to allow the do to be hosted, or paypal/eventbrite sites).

A FT host can't exclude members to the DO when they register on FT after having seen a heads-up somewhere outside FT. As a courtesy, and to help the FT Host manage the do, announcements should not be made outside FT about a particular do without gaining approval/agreement from the FT Do host.

We do expect Do hosts to be open and upfront with attendees about the costs of attendance and whether those costs are being offset by sponsorship etc. Our members have also made it clear that they prefer to know if there are admin charges included in the costs, so we would consider it good practice to be honest with the membership about what the costs are made up of.
The moderator team – currently Sweet Willie and NewbieRunner, are here to assist you if you have any questions about this, do organisation or do attendance.

Edited to add (18th April 2013): Due to a change in forum structure, some dos may be placed into the new External Miles and Points Resources forum. We are trying to develop clear, easily understood and consistent guidance so that do organisers know which forum they should use. Until we develop this - and its not an easy task - we beg your indulgence in what may seem like some arbitrary moves. If you are concerned, then please PM us.
