Fireworks Pizza turned out to be a surprisingly good choice since it is a for-real bona fide restaurant with quite good food. Blindfolded, the pizza could have been mistaken for NY or Philly although it looked sort of different.

24th may work ... I favor Ballston/Clarendon/Rosslyn/Crystal City/Pentagon City, but certainly have some flexibility

Would the new(ish) DC incarnation of Tadich Grill (a classic San Francisco joint) work for folks? It's around Pennsylvania and 10th, about a 5 minute walk from Metro Center.
