I’ll probably be able to attend.
|
I have dinner plans on the 15th but can make something on the 16th work.

A heads up - Will be in DC Area from 14-17 December:
David For Monday night, wanted to offer up potentially meeting at a) Starr Hill Tysons Biergarten (https://maps.app.goo.gl/syvM1NfV5XkdiBdE6) and then Stellina Pizzeria (https://maps.app.goo.gl/5B5fjNSbkgigKKqW9) - across the street from each other and both near McLean Silver Metro (for Metro-centric) or b) Audacious Aleworks (https://maps.app.goo.gl/DLqRqdWVRs7YgKBq8) and then BBQ21 (KBBQ) (https://maps.app.goo.gl/U1NeL2taRkDtCmiD7) in Fairfax if more folks are driving. For Tuesday night, will be car-less in DC and staying near Mt Vernon Square-Convention Center Yellow Green Metro so looks like a) a few options up near Logan Circle (U Street Yellow Green Metro) such as Aslin Beer (https://maps.app.goo.gl/REpbi8fv2adrEF9w6) and Cork Wine Bar (https://maps.app.goo.gl/REpbi8fv2adrEF9w6) and even Chicken and Whiskey (https://maps.app.goo.gl/k9kPPPDXyoW5wKPw7) or b) hopping over to Arlington (Pentagon City Blue Yellow Metro) and Nighthawk Brewery & Pizza (https://maps.app.goo.gl/4oqZtaw7t5uRMKEZ8). Still free Sunday evening near BWI. David |

The Biergarten is closed for winter, but their BrewPub on the ground floor is open. And it also has a food menu that looks reasonably good.
|
Keep me posted I live in the DMV
|
12/16 downtown works for me.
|
I am looking at lodging near DELee's suggestions and this seems doable for me on Tuesday, 12/16. The Courtyard and RI are both pretty reasonable, and flights look good. I am upgrading my status to "probable" :)

Hello to all (with a special wave to Greg and Miriam): It’s been a long while since I’ve attended one of these, but I’m now permanently back in DC and would be interested in joining this month’s get-together if it goes forward and there is room. Either the 15th or 16th works for me, not picky about location. Cheers!
ETA: after scrolling back through the thread, I see there appears to be a slow-moving convergence toward the 16th |
Yeah 16th will work for me. Chicken and Whiskey looks interesting, but no strong feeling either way.
Nighthawk is okay, but I had seriously the worst service I've gotten in a restaurant there (place was not very busy at all) and just forgotten about sitting at the bar. Haven't been back since. Although, after a few beers we can all try to ice skate right next door. :D |
16th would be great for me too. I'm fairly neutral on location.
|
Notwithstanding my relative newbie status, I’ll take the liberty of adding a couple of comments to supplement David’s excellent list of suggestions above:
— Aslin Brewery is great, but I’m pretty sure they have only a handful of indoor seats. (If anyone has been in the winter and knows differently, please chime in!) From scrolling above, I sense some enthusiasm for brew pubs. A couple of other possible venues that are not quite as unique as some of those previously mentioned, but are close to metro stops and convenient to Mt. Vernon Square while being (a bit) more central for those rolling in from Northern Virginia: — City Tap House— Penn Quarter — Bluejacket - Navy Yard I have not been to either, only walked by or know by reputation. Of the two, Bluejacket is the more unique destination and City Tap the more central.. Both appear to take large group reservations online. That said, I remain open to anything that is reasonably accessible by metro. |
I've been to Bluejacket a couple times and it's pretty good!
|
Bluejacket is great! I highly recommend it for a happy hour meet up. Wish I could make it, but I'll be out of town on the 16th.
