Very sad news for all of us, but I'm sure great news for you that even bigger and more exciting things await you. Reading this thread, with so many names I have met and/or grown to respect, reminds me what an impact FT has had on my life...and obviously that's true for thousands of us.
While my FT-time-budget has waxed and waned over the years since I first tracked it down after reading about mileage runs, the memories I have of the Milwaukee DOs, Save Sky Miles, randomly dropping in on the Palm Springs GAYla despite not fitting the target audience ;) , and having the opportunity to meet, dine and golf with FTers in cities and airports from SFO to BKK, will forever be a part of me. You will be greatly missed, and I do hope you still see fit to join us on occasion. You will no doubt be welcome in any corner of the world, anytime.

Geesh - I was teary-eyed when I heard Sat night & now reading everyone's responses & tributes to Randy, I'm just crying.

Thank you Randy for creating a wonderful website, but we know it's much, much more than that - for creating a community, a family if you will, of folk who love to travel - and who, like you, believe in 'paying it forward'.

I traveled for years before discovering FT & thought I knew my programs, but of course I learned how much I didn't know once I joined. And still don't know for that matter, but FTers keep on giving & teaching me, bless their hearts.

It's not often I can say something truly changed my life, but I can say that FT & you did Randy. Besides making me a better traveler, you have opened up my life & brought new friends into it from all parts of the globe. And those FT friends were a rock to me when my sister died last year from the same disease as your mum. They helped me get through it all, and I will be forever grateful to you & them.

And I count you as a friend. But gosh darn it, am I going to have to learn how to do Facebook to keep in touch w/ you now? :D

As doors close, others open. Those who pay it forward collect good karma and slack for use in the future. Stuff that happens and brings unexpected change does not negate the good that has been already done.
