I have been rendered totally and utterly speechless by this. Sort of like when Steve Jobs left Apple once upon a time.

Randy,
After finding FlyerTalk through a Google search a couple years back, everything changed. This site, along with your other great resources, has been of the utmost help to me not just for myself, but as a shared resource for so many others. While you will be missed as the omnipresence here, I hope the community will continue to enjoy your other brands when they need their quick fix of you. Thanks a million (miles)! uchuuace |
Randy-
My sincere best wishes for you in the future. As a relative newcomer, I'm amazed at what you've created and find FT to be a great source of information, humor, and collegiality. FT has allowed me to provide some great experiences for my young family that I wouldn't have been able to without. Thank you! -Chontz |
Thanks Randy
I hope you still continue to post (and keep your handle including Founder of FT) ;)
Man what a way to start a Sunday evening :( but best of luck where ever your future leads you a I presume where ever that is, it will be via the air Like all those before me, thank you and I am not sure where to start so I'll start at the beginning In Nov 2000 I was commuting weekly LAX-LAS for work and was reading the USA today like I did every flight (and still do) and read an article on Flyertalk and said, that is right up my alley. I can't remember if I cut it out, saved the paper or just wrote down the site but I got to work and checked it out. I lurked for a month and change before making my first post. I don't really recall that first post (think it was on Delta) but I was hooked. Its been 10 years this month that I've been reading FT and the information and personal value that your site created for me (and my kids) can't be stated. FT has not only changed my life but my two kids life as well. They have seen more of the world than most kids (well except other FT kids lol) and its all b/c of what I've have learned on FT. I am the present and they are the future of it and at least in my house, I'm sure they will keep on the tradition of travel and hopefully adding to FT Ten years, umpteen meetings with other FT'ers, a couple meetings with you, and thousands of exchanges of information with other members has made travel so much easier, accessable and affordable. So finally Randy, as I stated before, best of luck in future endevours, I hope you keep posting, thank you for the site, the opportunities to meet you and other FT'ers and even the fabulous Freddies (those won't ever be matched) Good luck and enjoy!!!! |
Adieu
Randy,
As I told you on Saturday we WILL see each other again. Idaho is not far from Colorado. Thank you SO much for founding FT. Our lives have been enriched by the many things I have learned here. See you, my friend! Best wishes in your future endeavors. Phil |
And thank you, Randy, for bringing this fabulous community together and linking us well before Face Book and its ilk, leading us on a quest to see the world in the style few of us could other wise afford. So many of us now have good friends in parts of the world we'd never have dreamed of knowing such people grace a FT, and you. It was good to share some time this week on the SMD2, but also during those trips into Toronto when you joined us at PJs, one of FT's official spots in the city. But also we go back to an afternoon in London over a couple of pints just west of Chelsea after showing me around your new offices in that city, a stint on your InsideFlyer panel representing AC members, and several Christmas boxes containing classic American goodies. It was an honour to sum up 10 years on FT by sharing with several other FTers a place in the Conde Nast photo spread. Your generosity is legend and you most certainly have shown us by example how to play it on. Au revior, but certainly not good-bye.

It seems I've been here but briefly, but I've certainly learned more about flying and related topics then I ever though i would. And I've met some really nice people along the way too.
It was the greatest of pleasures flying with you Randy, not once but twice. Your dedication to this site as well as your generosity in supporting this and other causes is deeply inspiring. Like others I hope you will continue to post here and I certainly hope we'll be sipping Champagne together again soon. All the best to you! |
I had the chance to meet Randy in person at the recent StarMegaDo. We sat on the bus together during the Boeing tour. My impression was he is a wonderful person and wonderful gentleman. Thank you so much, and I hope to see you again soon.

Randy..
So, I'm kinda shocked, but it seems to be true? Yet aren't you just a lil bit too young to be retiring? I'd think so.. lol .. but as always, I respect your wishes, and doubtlessly, your continued efforts with FT and such have paid HUGE dividends.. you're surely more than entitled.. Hopefully, just the fact that I've logged in to comment indicates how very much I appreciate all you've done. To be more clear, I do! All the very best to you and yours, always! :) Mark/"doc" |
Randy,
Thank you for Flyertalk, my life has changed because of it. Best wishes to your future endeavors. |
Thank you Randy, for all you have done.

Randy
Thank you for enabling the FT community. IB has big shoes to fill, your leadership has made Flyertalk the success it is! |
Wow, there's not much to say, except Thank You, and most of all Congratulations.
Best of luck for the future - but I'm not too worried for you. |
I always thought the reason Flyertalk worked was because it seemed to have a personality, a positive, caring, thoughtful personality that showed bright in every post, DO and exchange. Of course, that personality was your presence shining thru and you will be missed. Thank you for the time you devoted to Flyertalk.

Thanks and best wishes.
