Thanks for the update, spaceman. I'm at ORD now waiting for my delayed flight to PVG. Looks like I'll be arriving around 4:30 pm Thursday, right in the middle of rush hour! On the upside, looks like the equipment will be a reconfigured 777 rather than the old configuration showing as late as yesterday.

Rush hour? Sure, NJ Road might be a mess, and the highways on the Puxi side of the river won't be especially zippy, but you're still looking at <60 minutes travel time from PVG.... not the end to the world.

I was planning MagLev + subway line 2 from Longyang to Jing'an. I've survived being crammed into the subway in Tokyo and the "Orange crush" in DC, so know it's doable.

Just do the #2 bus; it's faster (I promise), and you'll save money.

But it's not the MagLev! (Though I suppose I could do the MagLev when I depart PVG at 17:00 Monday.)

If you can rearrange your schedule to spend Monday in Lujiazui (aquarium, binjiang park, etc), then that plan sort of pencils. Even if not, the Maglev is worth experiencing once and doesn't burn a whole lot of extra time in the grand scheme. Just realize that the #2 bus, developed at a cost of 1:10,000, actually does a better job wrt the mission at hand.

For those going on the trip to Zhujiajiao tomorrow, just a reminder that we are meeting at 8:30 a.m.in the lobby of the Ground floor of the Le Royal Meridien hotel. See you there!

        Thanks, Mort.

We will try to have the drivers to bring a sheet with FLYERTALK sign on it. Unfortunately, both drivers of the two vans doesn't speak English. I will be in the van for Hilton Shanghai pickup. In case you have difficulties locating our groups at both hotels, please give me a call at my mobile: +86 136 41867888.

Sorry, the phone number in the topic line is wrong(Thanks, Peter). It should be 13641867888!

        Best,
        James

Does anyone have any experience with trying to connect to the China Mobile hotspot/WLAN service? I seem to be getting good signal (CMCC) in my room, and it only costs 70 RMB for a week (vs. 60 RMB per day for the hotel).

I can read some Chinese, and it seems like I need some kind of mobile number. However, I can't tell how to enrolled or how it's actually charged. Would it suffice if I borrow someone's mobile phone number, or would the bill be actually charged to their account?

I also see a ChinaUnicom network, which seems to be free to subscriber.

I am still not feeling well, so I am doubtful that I can join you guys. If I don't show up by 8:30 AM, please feel free to leave.

Yes, you could just reimburse them later. Or, you could pick up a SIM yourself.

Any recommendations of place to pick up a SIM?
