Hey folks, I'm happy to answer questions although it looks like most of the basic info has been covered above.

If anyone is arriving early or staying late and looking for ideas on things to do I'll be happy to help there too...PM me or write a message in the Europe forum though because I don't visit this forum too much.

Best
Adam

Add me to Interested.

What is the best way to get there? It seems like anything from CLT requires at least 2 airlines and 3-4 planes each way. Am I better off trying to fly into some other city and taking the train?

Yes, that's the most logical way, but it's $1581. Time to consult ANA since United's website (expectedly) showed nothing at saver level.

I just got back from best visit ever! Prague was a winter wonderland with all the snow and holiday markets and decorations. I was delivering my father's ashes to our ancestral village in Moravia, blanketed with snow also but bright sunshine in the cemetery. Sounds a bit sad but really a joyful family reunion with no weather mishaps there till I was safely home. I stayed first two nights at Sheraton because my US cousins were there and wanted to make sure we found each other. Room and especially shower very nice but a bit out of the way. After return from Moravia stayed at Hilton Old Town, by coincidence in same room on exec floor my dad had when we all stayed there in 2000 when it was a Ren. Smaller room but very cozy and lounge now much better with delightful staff.

Almost better was Brno in Moravia. My cousin took me a tour including their two Christmas markets before I took the train back. Just delightful and of course for us lots of sentimental places from centuries living in Moravia.

I had BA F award tickets, LAX-LHR-PRG, very pleasant.

Under the theory that it's easier to cancel a reservation than get one at the last minute, I booked the Prague Marriott. Will check back periodically to see if the rate drops, as it's a bit pricey at the moment.

I looked at the Marriott Exec Apts, which are located near Wenselas Square, but you only get 1 night stay credit for 3 nights there. Having said that, they're apartments, get decent reviews on the Marriott forum & are inexpensive ($108US), so if someone is looking for an inexpensive option, depending on where this Wenselas Square is, it might be a good option.

Whether I make the Do is dependent on my organizing the main part of my trip (Vienna) & folding this around it, and part of that is dependent on the airline award part, which is more critical.

Cheers.
