We'll see if my "public" links for FB albums really work since I'm unsearchable.

Had a very good connection in Munich and landed in time in Stuttgart.
While flying I was looking back to a wonderful weekend at Prague. :) Thank you very much, servus, for organizing such a good programm with tasty and typical restaurants, perfect sightseeing tours and the brunch at the lovely Café Imperial. You really did a good job ^. I was happy meeting old friends and get to know new ones. Hope seeing you again somewhere around while travelling. |
I'm also safely home and would like to thank servus for organising the DO. It was great to see FT friends old and new.
I wish I could have stayed a few days longer. Any chance of making Prague DO a regular event on the FT calendar? :) |
Thank you servus for organizing the DO! It was great to meet old and new friends, and to see Prague again! I hope those of you who are still there get home safely.

In hindsight, we should have had group pics taken on the upper deck during the boat cruise when the sun came back out. Woulda, shoulda, coulda. :(

Glad to hear the strike date got moved and hope everyone gets out without issue. Hope to see the gang real soon at another Do. |
I missed the final day of the Do, thanks to my daughter. She and a friend were flying AMS-TLV, connecting in PRG. They sat at the wrong gate and missed their connecting flight.
My daughter called me at midnight to ask what to do. I found out there were no empty rooms in my hotel and had the hotel make a reservation elsewhere. The closest hotel possible was about mile away, Then I arranged for a taxi for them from the airport to the hotel, walked to the hotel, paid for their room, got on the internet and made reservations for them on El Al for the following night, walked back to my hotel, and finally got to sleep around 4 a.m. At 7 a.m. I woke up, could not get back to sleep, and called theml. I told them to take a taxi with her luggage to my hotel, paid for it when it arrived, and at 11 am we took a walking/shopping tour of Prague. Neither of the girls had any money so both were my guests for both the shopping and lunch. We got back to my hotel at 5 pm, scoow joined us, and I took them all to dinner. Then, at 7 pm, I arranged for a taxi to take them to the airport, paid for it, and finally managed to get some sleep. |

http://www.radio.cz/en/news#1 Not that it matters. I had a rather restless night train ride from Prague to Heidelberg, mainly due to a full 6 bunks in our sleeper cabin and two very loud snorers in it. (One of them even had the nerve to take the wrong bunk, fold up the centre bunk when it was needed later and take an extra pillow!) Our train was 70 minutes late and I missed my original connection from Heidelberg to Frankfurt am Main, but I just caught the next train and that was OK. Unfortunately, once at Frankfurt am Main Hbf, the DB staff wouldn't let me catch an earlier train to Aachen (or Cologne) without paying an exorbitance. So I am in Frankfurt city in a Starbucks sucking up free wifi (in lots of 2 hours at a time) until I have to catch my original train at 1517h. Apart from being in need of a shower, a little rest and a shave, I'm doing alright. Anyway, back on topic.... once again, big thanks to servus for the weekend in PRG. The city was just as wonderful as I remembered it from my last visit in 2009, and to experience it with the company of others was excellent. To everyone still going home or travelling, safe travels and hope to see you again soon some time around the world! |
Just to continue the series of issues of this weekend; Qantas suspended flights to from MEL last night due to the Chilean Volcano eruption. Saturdays QF10 was diverterd to SYD.
They have resumed (and the QF10 finally arrived in MEL) but QF flights to/from Tasmania/New Zealand are still suspended. This can all change, so we have booked a refundable train fare from Albury (ABX) to Melbourne. If we end up in SYD with flights to MEL again suspended, we'll get Qantas to fly us to ABX to catch the train. (Trains/Buses from Sydney left too early or too late or were non-refundable)http://www.australianfrequentflyer.c...on_neutral.gif http://www.bom.gov.au/info/vaac/cordon_caulle.shtml http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDD65290.shtml Of course, until six weeks ago, there was always the chance of BA flights to/from PRG being disrupted by IA. |
