Guys,

I've deleted some posts on the subject of the SPG offer. The disappointment by some members has been registered - I don't feel there is any need to belabour the point, as the offer is what it is, and no-one is being forced to use SPG hotels. We've been receiving a number of complaints about some of the posts on this area - the point has been made, and responded to by the organisers and by SPG, so I think we need to move on from here, and get back to discussing the do.

WHEN CAN WE BOOK THE FRANKFURT HOTEL?

We just finalized the arrangements with the hotel. Participants can expect to receive email with the booking link shortly. As Oliver noted above, all of these links will also be available on the private participant web site in a few days, when it becomes active.

Unfortunately, I posted too soon. While our room block in Frankfurt has been set up, it appears that there are no rooms assigned to it. I will email the link as soon as this is corrected.

Folks,

After going through the list of participants and cancellations, we still have 40 spots left for the charter. That means we are not even at break yet...

Last year, we were 229 with a European destination, this year, only 159 have committed with the 100 bucks non refundable deposit... Glad we didn't get the UAL 747

Many of you have emailed and PMed me if there's anything you can do to help.

Well, there is: Please help us get the word out there so we can fill the plane again this year.

SkiAdcock Sep 2, 2010 6:57 pm

I had one of the Europeans say to me a while back that he was surprised that the turn-out wasn't as high for this as SMDO1, given how many FTers there are in the US & how many are StarAlliance. I hadn't thought about it, but have to admit once I did I was equally surprised.

I realize a # of the old time FTers who are primarily mileage runners probably won't go because it's all about the .01 redemption ;) & this doesn't qualify, but it's obviously really good value.

I'll PM some folk to encourage them to sign up, but tommy, you might want to consider doing a media release re: it w/ some of the media partners.

Cheers.

Isn't that just about the capacity of a 737.800? Downguage pending?

No, please check your facts. We are at 160 now + about 15 press and airlines.

That's 175 seats, way more than the 737-800. Let's try to be a little more positive and get this plane filled up like we did last year.;) Downgrading is not an option..

Starwood SEA?

I am sure that it's just because I am tired, but i cannot seem to find a link to reserve the Starwood Seattle property. I managed to find and book Houston, but can someone post a link for Seattle?

Apparently, the link was sent out in a email that was sent to registered participants a week or so ago. I am a new registrant myself (registered and paid deposit 27 Aug), and apparently was not on the email distribution.

You can do one of two things:
1) Call the Westin Seattle and ask for the Star Mega Do group rate ($149). Even though I didn't book via the "official" FT link, I assume/hope that I'll qualify for the 1,000 bonus points since my reservation shows I'm under the Star Mega Do group block.

2) You can wait a few days for the official FT booking link which will enable you to review your flight options (connection to trans-Atlantic, trans-Atlantic, U.S. charter flights, and hotels in NYC, FRA, IAH, and SEA).

Hope this helps.
