headinclouds is now confirmed for Acadiana on Friday.

Whoopsie  I thought the dinner was next week, not this Friday. Have to bail out.

You don't have to wait until Friday -- you cleared the waitlist and are confirmed for Friday at Acadiana. We'll see you there. I'll send you a pm with the reservation details.

He was on the waitlist! You've been confirmed basically since Day 1.

If it's anything like UA's standby/upgrade email notifications my mailbox will be flooded! Look forward to meeting the group. I believe it's a very short walk from the Grand Hyatt, across what looks to be a parking lot, though I do hope it stops raining by Friday!

Given the last few weeks I wouldn't count on the rain stopping. See you Friday.

How could you think I'd forget about you? ;)

I was planning to send a reminder on Friday morning, but perhaps I'll take Shareholder's suggestion and send you - and only you - a reminder every 8 hours between now and 11:00 am Friday. :D

The forecast is for it to be sunny. It's also for it to be searingly hot.

Overall, I'd prefer the rain.

Once more, my thanks for a pleasant evening of conversation and good food and drink.

You're on the waitlist.

After another successful series of Restaurant Week dinners, I want to thank all who made it to one or more meals. Excellent food, great company, and engaging discussions on all things FT; what more could anyone ask for? Our three meals brought 13 different faces to the tables. It was great seeing so many of our regulars, as well as one visitor from the Great White North (who somehow didn't get the memo about bringing cool air with him).

Everyone made my job easier by providing advance notice when schedules changed, so that I was able to clear several of those on the waitlists.

I think it only appropriate for me to bestow a special commendation on uva185, who managed to survive three meals (actually 4) with me over only 7 days. That's got to be some kind of a record.

Hope to see you at another DC Happy Hour sometime soon!

haveric Aug 28, 2010 9:22 pm

I need to pay closer attention to this thread. I always seemed to be unavailable whenever something was scheduled. Now I see you were in my building for Acadiana and I missed it. I hope someone had a few fried oysters for me.

I guess there is always next time!

I cross posted to bump up my post count, and I figure I might as well (+1) come out from the slums of Annapolis for some cocktails.

I'll make it an official event and post it as such on p1 of the thread when I return from the VIE Waltz Do.

Unfortunately, I'll be out of town on October 23, so I will not be able to attend.

Might anyone be interested in a happy hour and dinner on Friday October 1 or Saturday October 2? I'm thinking some place in Clarendon might work. Suggestions?

I will, alas, be out of town that weekend. (And have other commitments for the 23rd so can't do the Lauriol Plaza thing, which is just as well given that it's not a place I like.)

mot29 Sep 22, 2010 1:27 pm

The 1st or 2nd could work for me. And I can tell a story about going to Lima (LIM) while my bag went to Wilmington (ILM), according to my DL correspondent because of a "weight and balance issue." It did earn me 12500 miles and $200 (well, I guess the bag earned it).

A happy coincidence has us finishing up that week on Friday afternoon in Falls Church. ^

Put us down for dinner anywhere in the Metro if the DC Happy Hour is going to be held on Friday evening 10/1.

However, Saturday 10/2 is out of the question as we need to get out of town that afternoon.

Well then, I guess Friday wins.

Of the various Clarendon locations, Harry's Tap Room is probably the largest. It's got a decent sized bar, a lot more seating than other restaurants in the area, and a varied menu with generally good food. If no one objects -- or has a better idea (and I'm happy to try another venue), I propose we go to Harry's.

Would meeting for drinks beginning at 6:15 pm or so, and shooting for dinner around 7:00 pm work? Reservations are possible, and would probably be a good idea, so please post to the thread if you're going to be able to attend. If I don't hear any dissent by the end of the day, I'll make this an official event.

I look forward to seeing everyone.

I prefer it a bit later what with DC traffic and all, but can probably make those times work. Put me down as probable, subject to one potential schedule issue that will be resolved in the next 24 hours.

GHF - schedule issues already, huh?

If we are going with Harrys, put in a comment that we're the same group from mothers day, and coming back to the manager (marc donnelly)

Would you like me to shift dinner to 7:15 pm? I'd be happy to try to make a reservation for then if folks prefer.

The time is not important to us. Whenever it may be, I request that gvdIAD put us down as definites for the dinner at Harry's.

Actually the schedule is looking really good as of right now. Looking 95%+ that I'll be in town Friday instead of schlepping back from Denver in the cattle car.
