With the extended pay-for-parking hours in DC, I'm inclined to choose something in VA. We've done lots in Clarendon recently, how about something in Pentagon City? We could start at Zen Bistro and Wine Bar ($3 beer, $4 sangria and selected glasses of wine from 5pm to 7pm) and migrate to a restaurant -- Lebanese Taverna, Ristorante Murali, Noodles & Co., or Sine Irish Pub come to mind as possibilities -- if the mood strikes. I prefer not doing Sine just because my boss eats dinner there every night. |

Mon or Wed is possible for me as well. I second the no Sine, and I'm not keen on Lebanese Taverna. They have lost their luster, IMO.

I'll plan on being at Zen Bistro and Wine Bar around 6:00 pm. If you want to arrive earlier, Happy Hour prices ($3 beer and $4 for sangria and selected glasses of wine) are in effect beginning at 5:00 pm. Depending upon how hungry we are -- Zen Bistro has some very interesting appetizers to accompany Happy Hour -- we'll pick a place for dinner, probably heading to dinner a little after 7:00 pm. By the way, if someone is unfamiliar with Pentagon Row, you get there from the metro by walking through the food court level of the mall and outside the far end.

It looks like Alexandria will be having its Restaurant Week - with 3 course dinners for $35.00 - from August 20 to August 29. I've made a reservation for a party of 6 at the Grille at the Morrison House, site of a successful Restaurant Week meal a couple of years ago, for 7:00 pm on Sunday, August 22. FYI: Sunday is half-priced wine night, though it's possible that the promo will be suspended during Restaurant Week.
