That documentary was a real eye opener for me.
When I found this website looking for, as the home page says "general travel information", I was under the impression from considerable reading, that the site was populated primarily by business travelers who were required to spend a tremendous amount of their time on airplanes and in airports as an integral part of doing their jobs. I thought it was mostly about making a necessary drudgery, if you will, as tolerable as possible. I never considered that there is, apparently, a sizable group of individuals that simply fly! The posters in this forum will not detect even the slightest raised eyebrow from me. I have my hobbies that people find to be out of the ordinary as well: http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5138/...3d69b0e73f.jpg Ready to Go by woodyrr, on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/3921318...7625311045099/ |
There's a long-standing thread on this production in the CommunityBuzz forum.
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/commu...ted-video.html I'll move this thread to the CBuzz forum. Ocn Vw 1K, Moderator, TravelBuzz. |
Glad you put that second photo, I had no idea what that thing was in the back of your truck.

The point being that, as a poster expressed above, I'm sure that friends, relatives, and coworkers of flyertalkers who fly as a hobby and accumulate and spend "miles" are inclined to look somewhat askance at them, but relatively speaking, flyer hobbyists are not any more crazy than the rest of us. ;) I really enjoyed being exposed to a new subset of society. |

Don't want to take the thread too far OT, but it is a decommissioned "air raid" or more commonly known in the midwest, "tornado" siren. I bought it and am restoring it. Here is a link to photos with the story: http://www.flickr.com/photos/3921318...7625311045099/

We all have passion to collect miles.. its interesting to see what we all do on the side.. For myself.. I'm a connosieur of pianos.. |

He's making it into a feature length film and needs backers... Join me in investing in this project. |
An absolutely wonderful thing. Not only put into words but also picture, the exact idea I am repeatedly unable to fully convey to the few people I thought were nuts enough to understand me. Proud to be a mileage junkie (even a newborn one :)). Just backed with what I could at the moment - my first kickstarter participation ever.

Any way this could be pushed to busier parts of FT? I come across both the link and this thread by pure random chance, which is a shame - this is essentially a movie about all of us here - and if there's 160k members, and lets say only 20% of these are active, each giving as little as 1$ would supply enough funds to make TWO movies :)
I'd love for this to be placed somewhere busier--I'll definitely need the help in the last 15 days of the funding drive--but have been hesitant to post it anywhere myself. Thoughts/ideas on that are much appreciated. In the meantime, happy flying. |
I started a new thread. Hope the mods keep it open. I agree, there are so many of us here that we can make this happen !

Loved the film thanks.

And funds are over the mark! Great job FT, good luck Gabriel, looking forward to the premiere and enlightening the masses in the non-mile age :)
