Called today about Prestige, agent eager to cancel. Told agent I need to use up my TYP first before cancelling.
Called twice on my Citi Premier after AF posted last month. More than $20k spend over the last year. No retentions offers either time. Only PC options were TY Preferred or Rewards+.
Time for me to reach out on the AA Business for an offer.
No offer but she "made" one. She gave me 1000 AA Miles and then she asked her supervisor to add an additional 2000 AA Miles for a total of 3000 AA miles. |

called on day 30 after paying the annual fee on my citi prestige card. Was ultimately given 2 offers
1) spend $99 and then get a $99 statement credit 2) spend $4k per month for the next 3 months (total of $12k) to get 20,000 TYP declined both |
AA Business card. 1st year anniversary. Minimal spend after bonus. Transferred to retention. No offers. Didn’t press very hard either. Cancelled.
AF posted on my Citi Premier, statement from mid-July. Had the card for ~6 yrs, not a lot of spend this year due to pandemic. Was only offered to convert, will try again in a week or so.
Citi Premier - got retention offer of $95 statement credit if I spend $1k/mo in the next 3 months + 1k bonus TYP on each month's $1k spend. Very little spend this past year.
Citi Premier
7 years, around $2000 spending for the last year. Annual fee on last statement. Called and reached a US agent. Offered $95 for spending $95 in the next 30 days (starts midnight the day after accepting the offer). Accepted.
Citi Prestige: Agent stated I have 37 days to either close the account or product change in order to get the $495 fee refunded. Asked specifically about retention offers and after a brief pause, he confirmed no offers were available.
Citi Prestige - quoted about 37 days to either close the account or change product for fee refund.
She was also eager to close the account but I made sure to declare that I did not want to close it. 1) 20,000 TY points after $4K every month for 3 months 2) $100 credit after $3K every month for 3 months 3) lower interest rates I'll transfer my TY points to another travel program before calling to close it. |
