CP Visa bonus points discrepancy

CP Visa bonus points discrepancy
My wife applied for the CP Visa using the link that promised 20,000 bonus points (10,000 first use plus 10,000 if used to pay for a stay). The first bonus points finally posted, but they posted as 8,000 instead of 10,000 or 20,000. Has anyone else seen incorrect posting of bonus points for the CP Visa offer? If so, were you able to resolve the problem? (Yes, I know we should contact CP and we will do so.)

If you can find a cheap Sleep Inn, just check in and tell them to charge you right away, then leave. 10K points should easily be worth it.
Three stays get in addition the 16K promotion that's going thru Aug. 14 (I think)

Thanks. I guess I'll look more for a cheap stay, but I haven't found any yet.
(I figured that a non-stay purchase at a Choice property would trigger the merchant's code on my visa account and that would be the end of it. Even better would be the purchase of a Choice gift card... )
