Weird Website Glitch

OK, I probably wouldn't have posted this if I'd been looking for hotels in any area other than Orlando, but I just picked up this odd and amusing choicehotels.com glitch. It's reproducible across IE, FF, and Chrome and happens whether or not I'm logged into my account. It also works for cities other than Orlando although I didn't come anywhere close to exhausting the list of cities available.

Here's the glitch: Do a search for any dates at the Choice website using the three-letter airport code. Then, change the dates of the search but keep the city the same. The Choice website produces this message just below the search box: "Thank you for your inquiry on MCO Orlando Int'l Airport. FL, US. Choice Hotels is working towards providing our customers with hotels in this area. Please check back later for updated information. Please enter a new City, Attraction, Address, Airport, Zip or Hotel Code." Substitute the airport code of any city for MCO, and you'll get a similar message for the new city--an obvious coding error that returns the same message but plugs in the three-letter airport code and associated airport depending on the search.

Maybe if I hadn't been searching for hotel rooms in Orlando, which has long been ranked amongst the cities in the world with the most hotel rooms, I wouldn't have found this glitch so funny, but with the number of rooms there, and the number of Choice properties, it made me laugh.

The easy workaround: If you've searched by airport code, just re-enter the code and start your search again. Or search by city or zip code or attraction. No problems there.

By the way, I was just using the website for research; I'm booking through the mobile website under the current promotion running through 10/18 to get the 1000-point bonus.

The glitch obviously isn't a big deal, but it's a slow Thursday. . .
