Peter doesn't like us

But he reads us. From his newsletter:

"If you're a self-satisfied frequent flyer who imagines his social status to be enhanced by the grade of airline membership card he carries you may read the Flyertalk forum. But if not, you might still be interested in this posting:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/china...rocedures.html

which describes procedures at Shanghai Pudong International Airport for dealing with flights arriving from North America. Apparently those who arrive there should not be planning to make connections with any reliability. See below."

He also "stole" the recent post about tourists falling to their deaths at Taishan (or at least it was posted here before it hit the newsletter).

He don't like us?! SHOULD WE CARE?

We all know (well, most of us knew) why we are here, and most of us enjoy being here, and WE LIKE US! That is what really matters, and the only thing matters! We are here to help each other to make our travel more enjoyable, to share our experiences. To suggest and put forward ideas to help fellow members, NOT to be told what HE think is best for us. or to tell us what we have experienced was wrong and his is the only right information/ideas/opinion.

I did not show any 'cards', neither did you (iahphx) I could, but we all have a choice to do so or not. Do I want to "enhance" my social "status"? No, I don't, I am happy where I am right now, unlike him, I don't have a huge chip sitting on my shoulder! As far as I can see, some other members 'social status' does not need any 'enhancing', as they are already there!!!

"If you're a self-satisfied frequent flyer who imagines his social status to be enhanced by the grade of airline membership card he carries you may read the Flyertalk forum..." If he indeed wrote this, then it shows clearly what sort person he is, and should be treated accordingly; he treats us with contempt, but it is he who is contemptible.

"He also "stole" the recent post about tourists falling to their deaths at Taishan" - Now, why doesn't that surprise me?!!!

Although I have my fair share of disagreements with Peter, he does post here in an attempt to help people out.

I have noticed that some members do have a bit of a complex that they should be accorded better treatment (in non flying situations) due to their amount of travels/cards. But you have that kind of thing in every community and this is no exception.

I suppose everyone else in the world knows which Peter this is, but maybe you could explain it just for me anyhow.

Yes, the man is brilliant and quite knowledgable about his subject -- China. Accordingly, he can be quite helpful. Often, however, in a condescending way.

Just like how he just dismissed the flyertalk group.

Airline membership cards are just ID to show how much you spent with XYZ airline. Other than XYZ airline and maybe their alliances, who really cares?

Like the AMEX Centurion card..who cares? Probably most that have one are con
men.
