China to Implement Special Security Screening Measures at Selected Airports

1. Special security check measures will be carried out at Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA), Shanghai Hongqiao Airport, Shanghai Pudong International Airport, Qingdao Airport, Tianjin Airport, Shenyang Airport, Qinhuangdao Airport, Shijiazhuang Airport, Taiyuan Airport, Jinan Airport, Hangzhou Airport, Nanjing Airport, Hefei Airport, Changchun Airport, Harbin Airport, Hohhot Airport, Dalian Airport as well as airports in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and in Tibet Autonomous Region.

2. People entering into the above specified airports will be subject to security check at the entrance of the terminals.

3. Passengers entering into airports with explosives, inflammable or explosive articles will be subject to severe punishment in accordance with current laws and regulations. The resultant consequences, such as missing the flight, will be the passengers' sole responsibility.

4. Passengers are encouraged to get to the airport in advance and reserve enough time for security check in order to avoid missing the flight.

5. This notice will come into effect as of the day of July 20, 2008.

Crazy

China used to be a nice place for a foreigner to live or visit...with all the changes going on now I'm starting to re-think my opinion. We'll see what happens after the Olympics. The Olympics seem to be used as an excuse for all sorts of headaches...my fear is that they will keep these measures in place after making life here a big pain.
