My wife and I have traveled twice with Viking River Cruises - in China and in Europe. Although they are not inexpensive, we would recommend them highly.

jiejie - thanks for the insights and tips, will discuss with the group.
Jamoldo - thanks for the offer - but with over 30 people I think I need the logistical support of a tour company for transportation at the very least. Can't see trying to coral everyone from hotel to site in six or seven taxis! Might PM you for some restaurant suggestions.
Thanks again! I just love FT!^

Last year we used Travel China Guide for their 14 day trip to Beijing, Xian, Chongqing, Yangtze River Cruise and then to Shanghai. No problems at all; they met us on our arrival in Beijing and "held our hands" throughout our 14 days. They varied the itinerary in each city to meet our stated desires. Very, very satisfied. Tour was limited to 5 couples. While restaurants may not have been the absolute top place in each city, there appeared to be way more locals then tour groups in each place we ate. In fact I noted that we may have been the only tour group in many of the restaurants. Have traveled all over the globe and this was our first escorted tour holiday, again we were very satisfied. ^^^
