PVG Transport Options
I have a flight into PVG on 25 Sept landing at 1pm. Booked my colleague and myself into the Grand Hyatt. What are my options to travel to the hotel from PVG? Hyatt has quoted me a RMB550 for an airport pickup for the both of us, and we are not very keen on being greeted with public taxis after landing. Does anyone have any alternatives for me? Thanks heaps!

I am continually amazed at the markup the hotel imposes on this trip. I have never had a problem with a taxi from PVG. Get the name of the hotel written on a piece of paper in Chinese characters and then, ignoring all the touts inside the airport, simply proceed outside to the taxi line -- showing the driver the paper. The cost of a cab to the GH from Pudong is about Y170 or less, and it's just about as fast as the hotel pickup service (exactly the same if there is no line for a taxi, but there usually is a 5-10 minute line). It really isn't that bad, honest!
But if a cab really isn't your cup of tea (and you don't want to avoid them by doing maglev+subway+walking), I am sure one of the local residents will have some wisdom.

If it can be expensed and your employer doesn't care, the limo is nice. Driver will meet you inside, haul your luggage for you, and generally will speak some English.
But generally, I go with a taxi like Richard suggests. Just as good, and cheaper. Usually only limo if I'm dragging a tenderfoot higher-up with me.
If you are flying back out of PVG or SHA, then just get a taxi at your hotel.
