yen1 welcome to FT!
Don't be surprised if a moderator moves this to TravelBuzz - you may get better answers in TravelBuzz anyway.
If China Southern fly there, you may be able to book using KLM/NW, as China Southern is a partner airline of KLM. Other than them, I've never seen a Chinese airline allow web bookings, and my travel agent has in the past had problems booking on some of the regional carriers.
Good luck!

I book flights within China on Expedia.com. I just looked and their is no airport code for a city by that name. Are you sure of the spelling? (Knowing the airport code would be even better.) Anyway, if there is scheduled commercial service, you should be able to book it on Expedia.

I've booked tickets with local travel agents in Singapore for Sichuan Airlines. Paid a 50% premium to buying them in China. To the best of my knowledge, they aren't on any online search agent. (CZ is the only one)

I am pretty sure you have the city spelled wrong. If you are trying to get to Zhuhai (ZUH), China; than this is your airport. You could also just fly into HKG and take the ferry (1.5 hours).

Welcome to FlyerTalk Yen1.
Because this has nothing to do with miles or points, and as JenBel stated above, I'm going to move this to TravelBuzz! where you can continue to monitor it there.

without question, use a local agent. expect to pay 45% less than Y if you are somewhat flexible. single flight routes can be a bit tighter, but there too you'll rarely pay more than 80% of Y.

I think yen1 is trying to get to JZH (Jiuzhai-Huanglong Airport, in Nanping County, Sichuan province) which just recently opened.
I'm not familiar with Sichuan Airlines (3U), but I beleive that Air China (AC) flies from PEK to JZH via Xian (XIY), Chengdu (CTU), and Chongqing (CKG).+

I'd fly into Shenzhen. It's considerably cheaper than flying into HK or Macau. Guangzhou is another option but Zhuhai has it's own airport and shouldn't cost much more but the Shenzhen/GZ frequencies will be higher.

I'm not an expert on inter-china travel, but the fares generally are standard and regulated by the government. FC is something like 10% above the coach price, and the prices are the same for last minute fares as well. There are plenty of travel agents in HK, like CTS for instance, who'll sell mainland tickets (shenzhen-shanghai, etc) (It's big business for them, in fact).
Flights to/from HK/Macau have "international" type pricing setups, including HK/Macau-Mainland flights.
If I had my last HK guidebook, i'd look up travel agents but I don't have it anymore, sorry.

For the person who asked about finding TAs, it's not that hard. Any hotel can point you in the right direction, and local print media is usually overflowing with ads.
That said, if you need referrals in any specific cities, feel free to email me.
