I have a refundable hotel booking currently.

Just wondering if I should just stick to Chengdu and take some day trips and return to the same hotel at night, or if I should do a 3+2 (Chengdu, Chongqing) via the high-speed rail?

I'll take a look at Chengdu-area day trips in the meantime, and if fellow posters recommend going to Chongqing, then I can factor that in, too.

Thanks for any advice you can provide.
I ended up doing three nights Chengdu and two nights Chongqing. The thing is I flew into Chengdu but flew out of Chongqing, so I was always going to spend at least one night in Chongqing. I enjoyed visiting Chongqing and really filled up my two days there. If you are flying into and out of Chengdu then maybe one night in Chongqing. It really depends on what you are interested in. You can easily fill up your time with Chengdu and the surrounding area. If you do go to Chongqing you will want to be there at night to see it all lit up. A pretty amazing drone show as well. Crazy crowded though.
