Under a visa-free entry policy ordinary passport holders from France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Malaysia are now able to enjoy visa-free travel to China for up to 15 days. (Trial period from Dec. 1, 2023 to Nov. 30, 2024)

You are repeating what was posted in post #1 and what the purpose of this thread is.
Nothing has changed from the Nov 24 announcement, AFAICT.

Norway was added to the countries that can benefit from the 72/144-hour TWOV around the same time, and Tourist Visa L has been made easier for applications in the US since, but everything else is about the same.

Ah, lol. I thought there was something new in what you posted first, and went though it with a fine-tooth comb, but couldn't see anything new.

Reading that report it is probably wise to carry a printout of the notification of visa free travel in english & chinese with you. Does anyone here know where to find this notification on the government websites?

For example the addition of Norway to the 72/144 h TWOV is here: https://www.nia.gov.cn/n741440/n7415...5/content.html

I only have the Munich Consulate notification in German... that won't go far

China kündigt visumsfreie Besuche für Deutsche ab 1. Dezember an

1. The consulate link is pretty much gold IMO
2. TIMATIC properly displays these exemptions

Well, neither really would convince a hotel checkin agent in a smaller city? (See the reddit link)

I suppose that depends on the specific hotel, but I wouldn't lose any sleep over this; translate the German article from your phone, if it really comes down to that (it shouldn't).

We slept in chinese brand hotel in smaller cities, they just copied the immigration stamp in the passport and took some pictures from us. Sometimes from a fixed camera but mostly just from their smartphones as the fixed cameras wasn't working.

I've been travelling with the visa in my old passport for a while now and I haven't had any Chinese hotels ask to see it (only the new passport is needed for check-in). So chances are they don't even care whether you're visa-free or on a visa.

I honestly can't recall the last time a hotel check-in person asked me to see a visa. I suppose some local PSBs might make up their own rules though.

When I visited, the only place that cared about my visa was when I got my local Sim card. None of the hotels cared.
