PEK Internatioal EXIT changes

S'been a while since I flew internationally out of PEK, and there's a few things that have changed.

Used to be:

1 Check-In
2 Train to T3E
3 Immigration Inspection
4 Security

It is now:

1 Check-In
2 Security
3 Train to T3E
4 Health Quarantine (QR code)
5 Immigration Inspection
6 Security Lite: only full bag scan

Overall okay, but a bit longer lines that I am used to from back pre-2020.
Some of these seems temporary and not permanent.
The train is now split into Domestic and International carriages. Domestic doors open at T3D. This is not ideal because the domestic carriages are pretty much empty and the international ones are chock full.

Just a FWIW...
...oh, and I thought I was special as I was told at check-in I could use the CA First Class lounge....turns out the Business Class lounge is closed! 😀

And you don't have to fill out a departure card any longer, at least at land borders. But you do need that QR code departing as well as arriving.

I normally try to carry on a backpack only in part to minimize bag search time/hassel. The second bag search in this process would further reinforce my resolve.

The second one is weird. I think it's just for show.
You put your whole bag through the scanner (no need to take anything out) but you don't walk through any scanner yourself.

Shanghai has this before the real security check, at the entrances to the airports. I think they're just focused on bomb detection.

Was this check at the gate? If so it might be the destination-specific secondary check that US and Australia flights always had.

Nah, it's there were it always had been, just after immigration inspection, but everyone is funneled into just two of these security-lite lanes.
There's also no one at the screens monitoring it, so it's either staffed remotely, or not at all.

Arrival a few weeks ago was:

1. Walk to Immigration
2. QR health code
3. Immigration
4. Train to bag claim (same setup as described above)
5. Bag claim
6. Customs
7. You're outside

Took 1h30 from the time I landed to the time I was home (with 1 checked bag). Sure beats 7-21 days in quarantine
