What is the proper procedure for installing Didi on iOS

I don't have an iPhone, but my girlfriend does, and I was surprised to learn how little info there is out there on how to install Didi on it. With Android (even my Huaweis, which no longer support Google Play), the drill is pretty easy because we can sideload DMG files for pretty much all apps.

She also had trouble with A$$, but the solution to this was simply to search from the US app store. Didi continues to stump me though. I would guess that more than half of you guys use both iPhones and Didi, so it can't be that hard.

I believe Didi is still banned from the Chinese App Store. There was some movement in July (https://www.scmp.com/tech/article/31...urn-after-ride) but it still doesn't look like it's there.

Here's a screenshot from my iPhone with the Chinese App Store. I think Dida is a different company than Didi? The second result is the global DiDi which works outside China. There's no entry for the Chinese Didi.

Hmmm. She still has Didi on her old iPhone, which isn't that old, from what I can gather, it's not possible to simply move the installation package over? Hasn't Apple been sued over playing gatekeeper? I'm still surprised that Didi hasn't tried to appease them. TKM, Apple has ~20% market share (only Huawei is higher). That's nothing to sneeze at if your principal line of business is dependent on smartphones.

You can try to backup and restore the new iPhone from the old ones data. However there is a good chance that it wont work because it will try to redownload the app from the App Store and its no longer available there. You cant directly move a package from one phone to another.

btw, the disagreement is between DiDi and the government, not between DiDi and Apple. It applies to all Chinese app stores on Android and iOS.

for example I cannot find DiDi on the Tencent App Store here https://sj.qq.com

I was in China until January of this year and had the DiDi app on my phone. Have since acquired the 14 Pro... . Anyhow.

Go to:

App Store - Select your Profile Image - then an 'accounts' screen should open. Click 'purchased', ('my purchases' [only if your family]), and you should see your previous downloads, including apps not on the App Store at that current time. I just tried this and downloaded DiDi fine, and even used my old SIM card!

Wow this method works. I have the app still installed from 2019 and just updated it to a newer version. Kudos

I still don't see it on the Chinese app store.

Anyway I tried to register with a few phone numbers and it says "修改操作频繁,请24小时后再试“ aka I've tried too frequently to register, please try again in 24 hours.
I don't know if it said this previously or not though

Yes Didi is now back. Also try their WeChat Mini program, I find it way more convenient and it has all functionalities I need.

Are there any similar IP restrictions with DiDi? Miss ExpatExp is using a VPN in Shanghai, and getting the following message:

Or is there a different version of DiDi she should download?

This is the international (non China) version of DiDi. You need to download the China version or you can use it through Alipay.

This is the Chinese App Store link: https://apps.apple.com/cn/app/%E6%BB...8C/id554499054

For me it is called 滴滴出行 and the international one is called DiDi Rider. You dont need a V for this

Why stick with DiDi Though? Use 高德地图's Hauling Service, which can also get you DiDi along with 60+ other services.

Thank you! I will send her this information. For someone normally using the US app store, is it possible to download from the Chinese app store?

Thank you! Does this require a Chinese bank account?
