Look at the Oasis site for how they're handling this.

We charge $465 for the first visa application processings. Including the Embassy fee, Oasis service fee, and an FedEx overnight returnshipping fee. We charge $425 for every additioanl application in the same order. Zelle and Credit card are accepted for payments. For Zelle please send payment to “Service at OasisChinaVisa.Com” and include the applicant’s name in the memo line. Credit card payments are accepted with an additional 5% processing fee.
And what value are you getting out of this vs just filling out the form yourself?

You don't have to make a second trip to the embassy to pick up your passport?

kb1992 Mar 7, 2023 5:46 pm

I just hope that old 10-year Q visas will be allowed to enter China again next month.

It's crazy to spend $500 for a new one.

You don't need to use an agent that charges $360 in fees. I'm not plugging mychinavisa, but others here have recommended them in the past:

I've used them way back, when I first started to go to China; it was a lot more convenient to have them do it, than to struggle through it myself at that point.
I still find their charges acceptable.

It seems that mychinavisa does not understand the difference between Q1 and Q2 visas. It simply says Family Visit Visa and requires the proof of Kingship

https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...71ef771f03.jpg

For people applying for Q2 visa, there is NO need for such proof. Only an invitation letter.

This agency isn't keeping up with PRC rules for Q visas.

It may well be just a lack of up-to-date website.
Most likely the agents there know the actual current rules (no proof either way, just guessing).

I am pretty sure that you won't have to do covid testing next week:-)

Let's hope that China will reciprocate....

Does China still require Covid Test for travellers originated from US or elsewhere?

I entered China from HK two weeks ago and was not asked to do a test. I am not a HK resident and entered with US passport with a visa.

Yes. HK and Macau are the only exceptions that I'm aware of. I'm guessing the requirement will disappear for other origins fairly soon, but I'm flying next week and already scheduled a PCR test at a CVS in Boston.

This has changed. About one week ago..

Basically, those countries who didn't require PRC-outbound pax to produce a covid test are now exempted:

https://www.humanresourcesonline.net...e-1-march-2023

It's now "honor-based"..

"Airline companies will no longer check the negative PCR or RAT test results."

"Starting from 1 March 2023, instead of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests, rapid antigen test (RAT, including RAT home testing kit) results will be accepted for air passengers flying directly to China."

An interesting hodgepodge of countries:

I suppose, if Taiwan (where I'm connecting) is part of the club, it wouldn't be included on such a list...so, I'll try calling the airline on Monday. I don't expect them to be policy experts, but if they were to give me a convincing green light, I might be inclined to skip the PCR test.

If you're transiting I believe you'll still need a PCR test from the US. Even if you enter Taiwan, technically you're required to have a PCR report as well (though airline staff doesn't check -- they merely inform you that there will be "spot checks" at PVG.

Thanks for commenting (I was planning on messaging you via wx if you didn't catch my post, anyway). I've decided that I'm going to keep my appointment at CVS. The entire drill won't take me more than 30 minutes, and I'll use the opportunity to stock up on vitamins and the like (not that I couldn't do the same at a gazillion other places, though). When I think about the 100+ PCR tests I got last year (you missed out on most of that fun), one more isn't a big deal.

US CDC has lifted the COVID test requirement. I hope that China does the same for US passengers.

The whole testing thing is stupid.

Both sides.

I checked the Chinese Embassy in Washington DC webpage. It has not been posted the updated testing requirements yet. Keep fingers crossed.

I'm pretty sure updating their website for this isn't a "weekend-worthy" task.

Consulates are enforcing rules inconsistently.

The DC embassy seems fairly flexible with Q2 visas, but I've heard that the San Francisco consulate is applying the Q1 kinship rules to Q2.

Tmk, the place on Wisconsin Ave that issues visas is also a consulate (i.e. same status as SF, NY, LA, and Chicago). The actual embassy is a pretty fancy complex near the naval observatory. They offer tours on occasion.

jumpingmouse1 Mar 11, 2023 10:36 pm

Another slightly cheaper one:
https://www.chinaentryvisa.com/en/

My fear is that once the old Q visa becomes valid again, the flood of people will push the ticket price to the roof.

enviroian Mar 12, 2023 11:38 am

Is it true the Houston embassy is no longer open? I got a 10 year visa from there back in 2017. I assume this is now null and void?

The Houston consulate is closed, and your visa probably is suspended. These two points are not related.

If you need a new visa in the future, you will apply through DC’s visa office. Before your visa is re-activated, you can get a two-entry visa valid for six months free of charge.

US closed IAH consulate and China closed CTU consulate as retaliation.

His visa is suspended, but the rumor is that Q visa would be allowed to enter China in April.

However, his visa might be L visa.

The US forced them to close their consulate? I assumed they made that decision on their own because their staff didn't have anything to do.

Per a notice posted outside the Chinese consulate in San Francisco this morning, unexpired 10-year visas are valid for travel again starting Wednesday March 15. They'll start issuing new L (tourist) visas as well.

(Not my photo, but looks legit).

kb1992 Mar 13, 2023 11:29 am

This is true.

My friend is at SFO Consulate NOW. He said the consular officials told him that old, still valid 10 year visas will be reinstated on March 15.

EmpressRouge Mar 13, 2023 12:38 pm

I imagine the SF consular officers put this notice up ASAP to get some relief from the long lines (and probably phone calls) over the past few months.

narvik Mar 13, 2023 1:12 pm

Seems legit!

YES!

Everyone book their flights now for the rest of the year! Ooof!

j223 Mar 13, 2023 2:06 pm

Waiting on my Asia Miles points to transfer, hopefully there are still flights left by Thursday lol. I expect a big run on flights.

tailorgiven Mar 13, 2023 2:21 pm

The news is official. See this WeChat official account post from the Chinese Embassy in the US.

narvik Mar 13, 2023 2:39 pm

As much as I welcome this news, it won't be good for flight costs for the next few months.
It's going to be a bumpy ride, if not more flights can be added.

The high cost will likely still keep the 'usual' tourists from visiting, is my guess.
