Shanghai during Chinese New Year

I know that the days leading up to CNY are travel hell, but how is it flying in and out after CNY has begun?

Flying is not as bad as other modes of transportation. It gets busy again at the end when people need to return to work.

Depends, days 3-5 of the seven day holiday period are actually quite light. Days 1,2 or 6,7 of the seven-straight-day holiday period can be busy.

I found day 1 to be incredibly quiet. Everybody already arrived to where they need to be. New year's eve is the worst.

Air travel if a little busy is fine.

Train travel is both busy and not that fine. Security is more stringent.
