Shanghai High Tea Recommendations?
I've just got a group buying deal online for Westin Bund High Tea for two for RMB 168. I am planning to go there next month.
Anyone has any other recommendations for stylish high tea experience in town?
I am also looking forward to having some high tea at Intercontinental Pudong...

Two of my local friends, both ladies with an advertising & marketing background, are sourcing organic tea from sustainable farming all over China and also organizing tea events in Shanghai as far as I know. Might be interesting as well.

When you say high tea, do you mean the British version with black tea such as Earl Grey, finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream, etc.? Or would you prefer green tea and snacks like dim sum? For the former, one usually does well but pays a lot at some elegant iconic hotel. So I would suggest the Peace Hotel or the Peninsula. There's a fancy tea place in Xiandu, almost part of the museum, that seems to have expensive fancy teas not available outside of China and food that's closer to Chinese. Or go to whatever gardens or try some of the historic poetry/books/antiques streets or a historic hotel such as some of the ones in the French concession or just beyond the Bund. Some of the upscale Bund bars and restaurants might serve tea in the afternoon.

I guess I'll go for the British first and come back to try another if worthwhile.

For a classy high tea, I would go to the classiest hotel around such as the Peace Hotel (excuse to walk around and see the building, lobby, restrooms, etc.), Peninsula, perhaps Park Hyatt for the view and extreme modern style, maybe Andaz or Hongshen (spelling) 12? for modern style, etc. The Westin Bund isn't of the same category, although its evaluation might well depend on how much one values ambience versus food itself (versus service too).
As an analogue, I would go to the Peninsula or RC in Hong Kong for high tea, not the YMCA place next to the Peninsula, the Sheraton on the other side, a Marriott (rather than the RC in the same hotel family), etc.
