I had some Xiaoyang Shengqian from during lunch today, in part because unlike XLB, they crank those things out like with blazing speed. I've decided that I'm not really a fan. Sure they taste okay, but they are really difficult without make a fool of yourself, a mess, or both.

Ah, great memories of Shanghai. My favorite place for these little dumplings in Shanghai is a little local hole in the wall joint on Kangding Road off of Changde Rd in the Jing-An District (more Shanghainese spoken here than mandarin). 6 RMB for 8 XLB. Was there a week ago, still cheap and absolutely delicious. Just remember to use the little dipping cups to cool them off.

1) Bite the ends and drink the soup 2) Dip in vinegar/sesame oil combo 3) Add ginger slices on top 4) DEVOUR IT LIKE THERE'S NO TOMORROW ^:mad:^ |

Read this thread in the morning and had to get some for lunch!! Nearest place for me was the Dingtaifung at Shinkong. Mmmm... Yum. Pricey compared to the little digs in Shanghai though. Will have to try to check those out when I'm in SH next month.
