Gifts and charity

Are there any items from the US that are difficult to get in China that would be appreciated as gifts for our Chins FTers? What about things for school kids or charities? Same question for Tibet.

American beef; prefer a 16 oz rib eye steak !. seriously, any unique food item that can clear customs is good, such as dried cranberries, etc.

women sometimes prefer good cosmetics, or nutritional supplements/vitamins as gifts. The supplements here are the 'genuine imitation' stuff.

Charities- ?. no safe harbors in this area. On cash, verify twice and give once.

Tibet- get some Yak jerky when there.

Iphones. I'm being completely serious. People constantly beg me to help them get US purchased iPhones, and they'll pay up front, cook for you, tote you around,++. Send me an email if you want to play ball.

Although one should be careful if bringing in more than one boxed and unused -- customs has been known to confiscate goods 'intended for smuggling'!

Didn't read the link, but the story on the BBC website said that 6 people have been arrested in connection with this v. sad case. This Chinese obsession with things apple is crazy! [although actually, the kid was given cash, which he chose to partially splurge on apple stuff].

Only if you are stopped, seriously. I've never seen anyone in China search any bag. YMMV

If you're. Talking expats any food item that is hard to get in China. I take things like trail mix, protein bars and brownie mix.

For Chinese, iPad, high end chocolates, western cigarettes.
