Nope. You just need to tap into the wireless that's within range. I stayed in a svc apt that was near a starbucks and in a certain corner of my living room on a good day I could get their signal.

Some outlets have the login info at the counter, most others require you to login into the China Mobile (iirc?) website and get a passcode via sms.

Oneworld doesn't have a Chinese carrier as a member. Wonder if that has anything to do with being blocked.
