I thought about something with a price 2/10 of the Crown Plaza :D
|
Is there a locker at Lo Wu (Chinese Side), available? I dont want to drive all the way to the airporthotel and back just to bring my suitcase to the hotel first.
|
SZMC ( metro) operates luggage storage facilities in the concourse above Luohu Station.
also available, lockers at the underground area between Lowu and Shangri-la Hotel. |
Thank you!
Anyone know the timetalbe of the bus from Chengdu to Chengdo Airport? My friend from Chengdu told me last bus will depart 19:30, can this be possible? Why did they stop service so early? |
Can I buy a trainticket from Kunming to Zhangjiajie in Lijiang or only in Kunming? I have some days left so I can take a look at Zhangjiajie, before go to Beijing. Its a train without a letter in the name, just 1258. That means its a slow train?

I could fly, but there is no direct flight, so it will also take most time of the day to get there by plane.
I read that there is no climate control in slow trains. But they will have a heater, or not? There are softsleeper in this train. There will be a 3G connection along the rails or only when the train stops in the cities? |
So what kind of train is 1258? If I look here price is ¥287 for soft sleeper and it should be 1361km. If I look here ¥286 should be the price of a K Train, but why is there no K in front of the train number?
Will they have a heater and power outlets? Will they have a restaurant car? --- This is the plan: Explanation: Day / Night Day1 Arrive 10am Hongkong / Hongkong Day2 Hongkong / Hongkong Day3 Hongkong and Shenzhen / Shenzhen Day4 Arrive Chengdu 11:30 / Chengdu Day5 Arrive Lijiang 08:45 / Lijiang Day6 Lijiang / Lijiang Day7 Lijiang / Lijiang Day8 Lijiang / Lijiang Day9 Lijiang / Lijiang Day10 Arrive Dali 12:00 / Dali Day11 Dali / Board train to Kunming 20:53 Day12 Arrive Kunming 05:15, see the stone forest / Kunming Day13 Board train to Zhangjiajie 07:00 / Train to Zhangjiajie Day14 Arrive Zhangjiajie 04:30 / Zhangjiajie Day15 Zhangjiajie / Zhangjiajie Day16 Zhangjiajie / Zhangjiajie Day17 Board train to Beijing 12:47 / Train to Beijing Day18 Arrive Beijing 10:40 / Beijing Day19 Beijing / Airport Day20 Depart 2am So I will have almost 5 full days in Lijiang, 1,5 days in Dali, just 1 in Kunming and 3 in Zhangjiajie. To much in a to short time or will it be doable? Some advice where to go in Lijiang or Zhangjiajie? If I realize that I dont like to take the train anymore I could fly from Zhangjiajie to Beijing and get one more night in Beijing, too. |
Nobody say its to much so it will be ok? :)

If you end up wanting more time in either Lijiang or Dali then just skip the Stone Forest, as you are going anyway to the mother of all Karst outcrops in China, namely Zhangjiajie.
Shilin, together with Wulong (near Chongqing) and somewhere else I forget the name of, form one of the main karst sediments in China. The other, is Zhangjiajie. If you have time, sure go to Shilin, but given your itinerary I wouldn't worry about missing anything if you don't. |

I dont want to stay to long in the big cities, so maybe I will follow your advice, but only if I could buy a ticket to Zhangjiajie in Dali or Lijiang. |

Well, my Chengdu-Kunming train K165 was 2 hours late. It originated in Xi'an rather than Chengdu and that was the problem.
There are trains that have no letter in front of them, just numbered only. It means they are very slow trains that stop just about everywhere on the line. They are to be avoided unless absolutely necessary, as usually they are the oldest rolling stock. On the latest itinerary, I guess I'm not understanding why you are bouncing around erratically from Shenzhen to Chengdu to Lijiang/Dali to Kunming up to Zhangjiajie???? Why are you bothering with Shenzhen, especially since you say you aren't focused on big cities? Is there a specific reason you need to be in Chengdu on a specific date? Is there a reason you need to go to Kunming (besides as a transport hub?) The Stone Forest is redundant with Zhangjiajie and could be skipped without regret. Climbing Emei Shan in December is probably not a good idea. There's definitely some missed opportunity between Lijiang and Dali. But I think the overall days are OK, just plan on not spending them all in Lijiang itself. On my Sichuan/Yunnan trip thread, there will be a bunch of details about this area, but I won't have it written and on the thread for another 2-3 days. |
I have no other choice between Kunming and Zhangjiajie. There is no letter in front of the train number and it will stop 11 times in 22hours. The train start in Kunming, so shouldnt have a delay. But the train Dali Kunming could have a delay, this would shrink the ~1,5 hours I have to catch the next train.
I dont want to spend much time in Shenzhen, this town will only be a transport hub. Will cross the border from Hongkong during the day and stay one night in an airport hotel. Next morning will depart to Chengdu to meet someone, this date is fixed so I already booked the flight Shenzhen -> Chengdu -> Lijiang. Will not stay all days in Lijiang, I want to walk the tiger leaping gorge with a overnight stay and maybe take a bus to shangri-la for a day or two. If I skip to stay one night in Kunming I will have one additional night in Lijiang, so the plan could be this: Day1 Arrive 10am Hongkong / Hongkong Day2 Hongkong / Hongkong Day3 Hongkong and Shenzhen / Shenzhen Day4 Arrive Chengdu 11:30 / Chengdu Day5 Arrive Lijiang 08:45 / Lijiang Day6 Lijiang / Lijiang Day7 Lijiang / Lijiang Day8 Lijiang / Lijiang Day9 Bus to Shangri-La / Shangri-La Day10 Shangri-La / Shangri-La Day11 Arrive Dali ... / Dali Day12 Dali, Board train to Kunming 20:53 / Train to Kunming Day13 Arrive Kunming 05:15, Depart to Zhangjiajie 07:00 / Train to Zhangjiajie Day14 Arrive Zhangjiajie 04:30 / Zhangjiajie Day15 Zhangjiajie / Zhangjiajie Day16 Zhangjiajie / Zhangjiajie Day17 Board train to Beijing 12:47 / Train to Beijing Day18 Arrive Beijing 10:40 / Beijing Day19 Beijing / Airport Day20 Depart 02:00 3 full days in Zhangjiajie are to less, to much or quite good? Will look forward to read in your Thread :) |
