We'll fly to Hangzhou tomorrow; passing through Shanghai on Thursday on the way to Nanjing. However, I have to show the expo to my entourage. Thursday evening could work out though.

Last I heard, the heatwave will abate by then. Good for you! I've spent time in some crazy hot places, but 40 degrees C in Shanghai is something else. I sweat in places I didn't know you could sweat. The only solution: don't walk anywhere, even one block. Of course, this is ridiculous and impossible.

If only the weather stations would allow readings above 39.9C. Staff at my office would have loved a couple days off during the heat wave.....

Today is still insanely hot (by my standards). I'm thinking about going to the Purple Mountain Hotel pool tomorrow.

Shimao Riviera Garden looks like a good option too.

Rather nice hotel, btw. Reminded me of a Shangri-La in several details.

Very convenient location considering the financial district, the Pudong exhibition centre and also the Expo.

Ha, moondog you weren't here last week when it was over 105F for 2-3 days. I was in Nanjing last week and one day was 107F, the other was 109F. Three weeks ago I was in Beijing and it was over 100F for 4 days in a row! I too can take some heat, but not for such extended periods of time!

The worst part of China is the humidity. In the summer dewpoint never seems to drop below 25C...

Right now Shanghai is hotter than Guangzhou, HKG, SIN, MNL etc.

I ended up going to this pool:

And, it was well worth y80... a bit of a Las Vegas feel.

I'm tentatively planning going to Hiroshima next weekend. If that doesn't pan out, I'd like to hit Purple Mountain (I've heard great things).
