Seeking advice from the FT community

I am looking for: Someone in china that would act as an agent for my company. I have found several that will do checks on companies to make sure they are registered, licensed and real. What I need is someone that I can show the product that we will need made for us with all the details and then that company/person find us someone to make our product, watch over production, loading and handle all paperwork to ensure proper delivery to us here in the US. I could compensate different ways as that can be worked out. So can anyone help me with this? You can PM me or whatever. Thanks in advance for any help..^

What sort of product are we talking about? This will determine (to some extent) what provinces are suitable which in turn will determine whether people have appropriate contacts or not

You need to be more specific also regarding the amount of production you are talking about as this will give people an idea as to how much time it would take (ie full time/part time)

We are talking about a foam product..The quanity would be a lot, but it will not matter wheather they are producing 10k or 250k as that is not going to take more time of the person willing to help me. Anyway thanks for your reply.
Once certain steps are taken then it is just a matter of waiting till production is finished,at which time I would make a trip to china at least for the first shipment.

Foam product..

Just settled a lawsuit involving non-conforming foam products made in Wenzhou. The products were inspected 3 times during production and
before shipping. The factory used inferior grade materials on a large percentage of the production and hid them from the qc inspector.

The fraud wasn't discovered until the shipment was inspected here in the
US. The factory is no longer in business.

So be very careful with foam products made in China.

Alibaba use to be diligent about screening their suppliers and verification to protect customers. With the economic downturn they dropped their rates in
half and sales people will supply you with pictures of a factory to post on your site and OK anything you want as far as amount of employees, registered capital, etc.

The majority of listings on alibaba are not factories but individuals without even an export license who just set up a website and can write english. Better to check search alibaba.com.cn

There is no substitute in China for checking out potential agents in person, multiple times and even then you might not know whether it's all for real. You could also ask the commerical attache at the U.S. embassy for leads as well. The few times I have tried this (in other countries, admittedly), I have found the embassy staff quite willing to help but not very knowledgable. Still, it's another resource to consider.
