More TSA theft

One of my co workers just returned from a trip & on the outbound(out of CLT) the TSA stole food from his checked bag. I guess one of them forgot lunch. He said he was missing mangos & a couple other food items.

There was a greeting card in his luggage from the TSA

IF the items were all fruit and depending on where your co-worker was going, the TSA may be innocent of this one and the agricultural department may be the guilty party.

Some states have prohibitions about bringing fruit or vegtables into the state without proper documentation.

I believe TSA didn't screened the bags through CTX machines. That's why it was failed to followed the capable rules at airport. It was taking out the personal items with someone's bags. This is not appropriate for behavior at CLT.

Really, so you have proof that the TSA took it and not a baggage handler?

No, only TSA personnel.

What self respecting baggage handler would stoop to eating food stolen from a passenger's luggage? If they go into a person's luggage it is for other, easily sold items.

I'm going with either the Agriculture Dept took it or a TSO who was late for lunch took it as a snack.

The answer should not matter if the concern is aviation security. In either case the TSA failed its mission by allowing a criminal access to the checked bag. If the criminal can take something out w/o getting caught, he/she could just as easily put something, e.g. a bomb, into the bag. The all-to-frequent reports of theft from checked baggage indicate that the TSA either does not really care about security, or does not understand the concept at all.

Of course if one is concerned with the covering of rear ends and passing the buck, then the answer matters.
