TSA PR piece in DEN (again)

Here is another PR piece from DEN.

The "reporter" says:
The ultimate goal is to detect drugs, weapons and other potential threats a person may carry on their body. On the day 9NEWS visited with the TSA, a man scanned in the WBI was caught with three bags of marijuana. Bassett says new techniques, and in this case technology, has allowed TSA to evolve since its inception following the attacks of September 11, 2001.

It's a dragnet.

Pot, frog, boiling.

"Well, we got this technology here that we can use to find illegal material. Why don't we just do that..."

Remember that besides the war on terror, we still have a war on drugs.

The 9NEWS story makes claims that a person's privacy will be protected with the process and use of the images. Is this the same level of privacy protection that my phone companies and Internet provider assured me of a few years ago? Or does the Patriot Act transcend another claim by industry and government?

Does anyone know?

Stay the Curse!

And an undeclared War on Liberty.

Only if you sit in the jumpseat and blow the smoke toward the pilots?

Smugglers are not a threat to airline safety. A mule wants to get where he is going, safely and in one piece, unnoticed, with himself and his cargo of drugs/cash/diamonds intact. A smuggler DOES NOT want to hijack the plane and fly it into a building.

If I was a criminal defense attorney and my client was caught with drugs in an administrative search at the screening checkpoint, that quote would be Exhibit 1 against the State.
