More work for me, but what I do is wear slippahs to the shoe carnival and keep my shoes with fresh socks wrapped up in a plastic bag in my carry-on.

Of course I need to take off the ridiculously thin rubber slippers and walk through barefoot (ugh) but I carry antiseptic wipes and wipe down my feet and slippers before changing into shoes.

It's more work, but I usually get to the airport earlier than I should, so it's not too big of a deal. I just want to avoid walking through the detector in socks then putting dirty socks into my shoes. Yuck!

I applaud your diligence, but nobody should have to do all that work for their stupid rule.

Oops, I wasn't aware that it changed to where ALL shoes must come off. Thanks for the clarification, ND Sol.

Just curious, but what do you tell vegans who eat only organic and GMO-free foods?

I have a ziploc in my carryon. Said zippy contains one pair of little socks, what I call "exercise socks" and I put them on as I take my shoes off at security. As soon as I'm through security, I take off the socks as I put my shoes back on and put the socks in the zippy, inside out. I've been doing it for awhile. I'm not obsessive about it, though, and mostly only do it when I'm wearing either flip-flops or shoes I might, someday, wear without socks. I just don't want to walk through barefoot. Ick.
