TSA Actually Makes A Smart Move
After years of the traveling public not answering honestly when asked those 2 security questions, they are going to eliminate them. Though some would say it was fine to have them "if it made us safer", the reality is they did not.

I agrees NSH.
I was in SFO last night and said to the GA when she was checking me in and said "I bet you will like not having to ask those questions anymore." She said, "Huh? I hadn't heard about that". Trust me.. I bet there will be GA's and TA's that ask us on our next flight.

LOL. How many times in the next 3 months do you think you will be asked anyway due to ignorance of the new rules?
Heck, there are still airports that wont let you through security with an e-ticket or itinerary!

I had a battle to the death over my tweezers at LAX in May! This was a full 7 months after the government said that tweezers are "permitted items." (I won eventually, but it took about 30 minutes and consultations with various levels of supervisors.) And let's not forget that poor woman at JFK (Delta's Terminal 3) who was forced to taste her own breast milk more than a month after the TSA said that passengers do NOT have to drink from carry-on liquids.

Pointfreak!, the question will be continued to asked "out of habit" NOT "because of ignorance". A habit of this type is not easy to break, just a part of checking you "in".
Don't really see how this is going to SPEED UP the process.

On my flight today both the agent at check-in and the GA asked the questions. When
I asked "didn't hhey drop those questions" I was told not to make trouble and just answer the questions if I wanted to get on the plane,
NO communications between the TSA and the front line employees.
Well it will be a year before they get it right and by then the TSA will have changed the rules a dozen times.

I couldn't even get past the initial online interview at the TSA's Web site because I had no formal security experience. They had jobs posted for security screening trainers (which I have been a trainer for the airline industry for the 3.5 years previous to 9/11) and they wouldn't accept me because I had no previous baggage screening or security screening experience.
So these boneheads thast have been paid to screen all of us will ocntinue to do so, with government benefits, and they won't even be up to snuff on their organizations latest policy changes.
You have to love it when the government takes over!

Yesterday, I was told that the Gov may have changed there policy, but Delta hasn't.
The GA also said that even if they do, it's going to be a hard habit to break.

Good point about the breast-milk incident. I was among the first to post that story and followed up with lots of additional details gleaned from local NYC TV news programs. I tried very hard to emphasize Delta's complete innocence -- in fact, my friend at Delta's headquarters was just as outraged as I was.

The same type of media slam occured when SR111 crashed in Nova Scotia. they were broadcasting from the Delta gate at JFK.

At my recent check-in, the same security questions were asked. When I inquired, the agent said that they had not received any directive from their management not to ask the questions, and although she had seen the same news reports that I had, she could not go by that until higher-ups gave the word.
Interestingly, the news reports said those questions have been asked for 16 years. I seem to recall the questions were put in place in response to the Unibomber threat to blow up aircraft over the July 4 weekend in 1995 or so.
