Two weeks ago, I was travelling to AMS via MEM and DCA. The MEM-DCA flight was delayed so I went out to smoke. As I was going through the security I took my keeys out and put them in a little bowl. A TSA agent, picked my keys up and started examining them very carefully. There were two house keeys, a key to my aprtment, a tiny mailbox key, a yet tinier key to a minature lock, and my car key that had a platic cover at the base (not a keyless entry system). Additionally, there was a little bar coaded tag to a grocery store that gives sale price on certain items. She spent at least 30-45 seconds examining each key turning it over over and over. I was a bit irritated, so I asked "Haven't you ever seen any keys before? Or is there a problem?" She gave me a sheepish grin and said, "We have to check everything you know!"

Well, I guess that is what you can expect when you are from Bilocksi.

I apologize. I realize that what I just wrote was a real turkey of a joke.

It still made me smile.

Passing through security at Puerto Vallarta in Old Mexico last week a security screener said I couldn't take a sealed package of AA batteries on the plane. "Prohibito", I was told. I replied "Quisiera hablar con su jefe". After waiting a few minutes for the supervisor the screener said I could go.

When it came time to board the plane I was selected for a "random" search. The young lady paid no attention to the batteries, but took a fancy to a little sewing repair kit that I always carry containing a couple of dangerous sewing needles, as well as one of two disposable plastic razors. I protested to the gate agent, who told them it was OK, then told me that they hadn't been told that the rules had changed.

Put enough keys in a sock and -- lo and behold -- you have "somethibng that could be used as a weapon." Smack someone upside the head with it, and you too could be a hijacker! How silly.

Even the infamous "Key Machete" (sorry no pic available) is NOT going to allow someone to hijack a plane.

Unless the pinheads are looking for the vapor-ware "Key Bomb" or the "Key Gun", they are wasting everyone's time and money.
