3 Seconds to Pass Security Lanes by Facial Recognition

Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport in China has launched the facial recognition technology of Alibaba Cloud’s ET Aviation Brain for 25 domestic security lanes at Terminal 3.

When travelers walk into the security area, the wide angle camera will capture travelers' dynamic pictures in a time period and match with their ID photos from the system. The accuracy of facial judgement is over 99.6%.

4 in 1,000 not recognized correctly... so for 35m pax movements last year, that's 140,000 missed. (assuming all are domestic, which of course, they aren't).

Then again, for domestic travel in Australia, I don't show ID to fly domestic, nor do I remove liquids, jackets, or shoes.... And I don't require a boarding pass to board the plane.
