The terminology sometimes confuses people.
1. You can be enrolled in PC either through a participating carrier or as a side benefit of GE. 2. The fact that you are enrolled in PC doesn't mean that you won't be sent through the standard screening or that even if you go through PC you won't be subject to additional screening. Anecdotally, once enrolled in PC, GE seems to work almost all of the time while participation through a carrier less of the time. |

I was able to get pre check 15-20 times before turning 18. I enrolled in Global Entry just before my 17th birthday and have, since then, been getting pre check almost 100% of the time.
Maybe once I get GE next year, I'll start getting it. I was originally told 16 was the minimum, but on turning 16 I was then told 18. I haven't gotten it on the 10-15 times I've flown since turning 16 while my parents have every time as the same status. Who knows. |
