Epic Fail @Nashville (BNA) May 13, 2012: Nutjob scaled fence and got aboard AA Plane
A nutjob named Ram Porat has demonstrated just how easy it is to get on an airplane in Nashville:
The Tennessean:
Police: Man boards plane illegally, exclaims 'I own the world'
9:40 AM, May. 15, 2012
Evidently, some PR flack managed to get author Andy Humbles to conclude the article with this line:
Good job there, keeping him out of the "secured areas of the terminal building" while completely failing to keep him off a plane. I am sure Senator Paul appreciates your good work:
The Tennessean:
Sen. Rand Paul stopped by TSA in Nashville Airport
Ron Paul's son, A Kentucky senator, reportedly set offbody scanner

Porat never gained access to secured areas of the terminal building. Nashville International is investigating the security breach, according to a statement by the airport.

BNA is my home airport. I have often thought how unsubstantial those fences looked. Some of them run though secluded and isolated areas. Getting past the fence does not surprise me.
Getting on a plane without ground crews, LEO's, and other people constantly working around the planes does surprise me. C-19 is right out in the open in a bend in the terminal. But the C terminal is mostly WN, and would be virtually deserted at 2 a.m. with no baggage handlers or refuelers. In fact, at that time, even the outside areas may have few people roaming around. The only people like there were maintenance, security and a few construction workers.
This is a much greater security breach than a little kid hugging a grandmother. Maybe they should redirect some of their resources.

Yeah, how did he sneak past at TSA checkpoint? He does not have SIDA badge. He could be arrested. He will get charge of criminal trespassing. He can't be at secure area. That's private property! He will go to jail for 30 days.

The "climbing the fence" checkpoints close down at midnight, don't they?
The least of his troubles.
Ummmm, did you read the link? He was.
At least.
I don't think that word means what you think it means.
And under TSA jurisdiction?
He'll plea bargain that down to 2 years.

As serious as this is, he will be a folk hero to the type of crowd he likely hangs around in. As dumb as this stunt sounds, he will learn very quickly after a few nights in the Concrete Hilton that maybe this was not such a good idea after all.

Theoretically. From a practical standpoint, this clearly illustrates the TSA's role as the "Maginot Line" of transportation security. Gives the locals a warm feeling, but is ultimately useless when one can simply make an end-run.

You can only take down an airplane from the inside.

TSA runs the screening checkpoints and other stuff......
LEOs run the access control to the place....
This was clearly a LEO issue. Someone should have been on patrol out there and/or watching cameras.....
TSA does neither of that....
